    It was. But it didn't explain how one of Midgardsormr's seven offspring, a flesh-and-blood dragon, became a Primal to begin with. That story was apparently saved for the expansion.

    Or how they managed to get a distinctly angry primal and a fair amount of his followers into the artificial satellite. I'm gonna go with it was a trap, because that makes a decent amount of sense.

    I always thought they defeated Bahamut with Omega, then some Allagan scientist had the twisted idea of using him as a power source. So they imprisoned as many dragons as they could in the satellite, brought a whole sea of crystals into the center, and forced them to summon Bahamut again within Dalamud; which they probably did willingly at first thinking that Bahamut could save them. Afterwards, the binding coils took care of the rest.
