Hard for me to believe there isn't more to the story when you exaggerate to the extreme to say they are promoting harassment. I agree more should be done against those that harass in DF, but they in no way promoted harassment, come on. This whole story could be exaggerated for all we know.

Basically its as the GM said, dungeons are a group desicion as to what happens. If the majority of people say that they don't care if the person is afk, its fine. Same as how people complained about being kicked in spirit bond gear. If the group doesn't agree with you spirit binding, then they can kick you. Your group governs itself and if you don't like that you can make your own group in party finder. That's basically the rules.

Vote kick abuse: A partial premade kicks one of the people who joined via DF just so their friend can join in progress and skip the majority of the dungeon.

Vote kick abuse: Joining a party via DF, saying "I'm new," and getting vote kicked immediately.

Not vote kick abuse: Demanding someone else be kicked, throwing a fit when the rest of the party says no, and then being kicked for it.

Not vote kick abuse: Threatening to report someone and then being kicked for it. Most people don't take kindly to threats, and such behavior likely qualifies as harassment.

Not vote kick abuse: Saying anything at all that your party doesn't like and being kicked for it.


The complications arise when one of the first two situations occur, because it can be very hard to prove it wasn't actually just the last one.

I don't need your assumptions, I wouldn't have reported if I was rude when I know they can check the chat log. It's the first time I report someone in game as I felt it was needed. Good day.

Inaction isn't promoting anything.

Inaction is an indirect way of saying it's okay to do these things. Perspectives. I always use this as an example, but the AFK situation for PvP in WoW years ago is a perfect example of inaction and players unintentionally forcing the devs hand. It was so bad... so bad to see 70/80 players (if not the both teams entirely) in a 40v40 match just AFK every single time. It started off as nothing major, with a few doing this, then after months of it happening and no penalties for it, practically everyone joined in. No reason to bother to play honestly, since there were no consequences for doing nothing. It's the same as DNF with Chocobo Racing, but the difference being that unlike racing, you DO negatively affect the potential reward at the end of a match in the PvP situation that I refer to. So the devs eventually added a Vote Kick/AFK reporting option, where they literally stated that reports will be looked at and continued abuse of being AFK will result in consequences (bans, reward/item removal that were obtained from your AFKs, etc).

The only true way to see devs take action is to force their hand, as per the WoW example. Of course, such a thing won't happen overnight, though it will come sooner than it would have otherwise (if it would have even come at all). Thankfully, so far, it doesn't happen TOO much, but LotA is a perfect example of where you/anyone could take advantage. The mobs/bosses die fast, meaning each wing is cleared in minutes. People generally don't notice or care if you're not around for the first boss (thinking maybe you got locked out), but then take note of the fact that loot is still hanging. 5min timer? Yeah, no ones gonna wait for it to default to someone before they continue. Can't kick because it hasn't been 15min... though moreso, you can't kick while rolling on an item AND you can't kick in combat. When the time hits that it auto passes, you're already fighting the next boss, loot drops, can't be kicked. It's honestly the perfect means to be bad and I just laid out how it works. Simple, easy, and free of consequence.

Thank you, your comment says it all. That what I meant with promoting, not promoting directly but players will just get advantage of it and use it as they know there's no punishment for it.
