So, the "Heart of Sabik", used to empower Ultima Weapon, was taken from Elidibus who was, when mortal, The Lord of Snakes, killed and eaten by Garuda... My head hurts, I forgot my hat.

Very interesting. Though, realistically, it's probably all allusion. I wonder what other connections will be made with the Ascians and Zodiacs. ...wait, what if... No...

"What if the Ascians are connected to another group of Twelve things?" If that's the question, that does come and go.

The legends say the Twelve left at the beginning of the age of man and the Ascians act as though a rift separates our peoples - that the world has lost its true form. Sometimes I get caught up in that paranoia, too. Sometimes I also get caught up in the possibility of Eorzean atheism. But, for some reason, I just can't get go of a little faith. The Twelve were always such a big part of the promotional materials, and the Moogles once claimed that the Elementals told them that the Gridanian Warrior of Light was a messenger of Nophica's intent. Something just feels wrong about Hydaelyn whispering in our ear about Darkness and Evil in reference to the same entities (unless their corruption is the whole point).

I remember a part of the Main Scenario where the Ascians taught young Ala Magan's a method of summoning one of the Twelve, Rhalgr I think, in the same way as you summon a primal. Of course those youths were very unlikely to succeed but it raised the question for me as to weather they would summon the actual Rhalgr or merely a primal shaped as the image of their worship.

Gaius, too, implied that any attempt to summon the Twelve would result in them appearing as eikons (icons), false images of gods. I always imagined that's why the End of an Era played out like it did. Louisoix tapped into the prayers of thousands doing the stone pilgrimage and what was summoned was literally a bunch of aetheric symbols binding Bahamut in an imitation Dalamud as if specifically answering people begging, "Please just lock that thing back up and put it back where it came from." If the final outcome would have been anything different, I doubt Louisoix's original plan would have been to kill himself just before the end to prevent them from manifesting corporeally. (If you haven't read the Tale from the Calamity about that, Louisoix didn't plan on coming back, either way. The fact he died facing Bahamut instead of instantly severing the ritual was incidental.)

Yeah they're an actual thing, the whole thing with Bahamut and Midgardsormr seem to reference their existence directly.

What if Primal's 1st manifested themselves like Louisoix? In the precipice of their death the prayer of the their people "transformed" them into said primal to defeat their foe?

The difference being there were plenty of witnesses to that event to perpetuate the Primal.

Although, I am of the belief that the Elemental Primals(excluding Shiva, Mog, maybe the future ones) exhisted when the world was young and may have helped (in a small way) to creat the world.

There was a Lominsan legend of Nym tasking a great serpent to bring for water to the new formed land, but it got out of hand and planned of flooding the new world. It was sealed. This sounds like Leviathan

On the subject of Garuda's original personality. Wind is a healing spell if you look closely when cures are being cast. Then there 2nd winds and chirada heals.
