About Cover, though - assuming we want to skip the third Flatten because of reasons, and that the third Flatten occurs at around 2 minutes and 10 seconds after the pull, who'd be a better candidate between MNK and DRG (the other DPS are BRD and SMN, so I guess they don't need it)? I thought DRG was better in terms of burst, whereas MNK was better in sustained damage, though I'm not sure if it applies in this scenario.
MNK should always get Cover over DRG unless there's a huge gear/skill difference, they're less reliant on CDs and DoTs to deliver their superior damage.About Cover, though - assuming we want to skip the third Flatten because of reasons, and that the third Flatten occurs at around 2 minutes and 10 seconds after the pull, who'd be a better candidate between MNK and DRG (the other DPS are BRD and SMN, so I guess they don't need it)? For groups that don't have melee weave next to the boss for Earthshakers:
MNK > NIN > DRG > BLM > WAR > SMN (would have to be set 2, BRD + SMN for SMN to get Covered)
For groups that do have melee weave in and out for Earthshakers:
BLM > SMN (mainly to save MP so no R2 spam) > MNK > NIN > DRG > WAR
For the those of you in T13 on add duty for phase 2, typically how much does your DPS drop? Im typically sitting around 600-630 through phase one, but by the end of phase 2 I'm usually around 530-560. I feel like there should be less loss.
My PLD always saves cover for 2nd earthshakers because thats when BFB is up, when BFB is up drg is easily pumping out 650 "instaneous dps"(is that what we call it?) , so it should be drg>mnk>nin>blm>war>smn if your pld is waiting to let your melee keep dpsing during BFB
What does that "weave next to the boss for Earthshakers" mean? The thing Aiuri is doing here? If so, I tried it. Either I'm really, really stupid or I have too much delay for it. I've been trying that for an entire evening and each time I could not do it without either messing timing up (puddle next to boss), or being slowed down by the puddle.MNK should always get Cover over DRG unless there's a huge gear/skill difference, they're less reliant on CDs and DoTs to deliver their superior damage.

It seems like I can only survive the puddle by avoiding any form of backtracking, let alone try DPSing, and it's kind of unnerving - especially considering that in phase 3 there's no chance for melees to be covered AND I can't spread the puddles too far either. Whenever I get Earthshaker my DPS plummets, and that's even if I don't die. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, and I kind of guess that Cover is just a temporary patch.
The only thing I have managed is "predict" the mechanics thanks to the rotation, so for example I know that Heavy Thrust+Jump precedes the first Earth shaker and that my Phlebotomize after the second B4B is up occurs at the same time as the second Earth shaker symbol appearing over the head. But aside from knowing exactly what is going to happen, I still have no clue as to how I should manage it. I hate my latency.
I'm actually curious who does more, an equally geared DRG or MNK under B4B. My money's still on MNK but you might have a point there.
I haven't tried the weaving technique personally, I can't give you any advice or experience unfortunatelyWhat does that "weave next to the boss for Earthshakers" mean? The thing Aiuri is doing here? just got 50 DRG yesterday (already had a i101 set ready)
thanks for this thread, I might not have gotten this far without some guidance on the rotation
I can do it consistently, the timing is /very/ tight, it really just takes a lot of practice.
I'd rather the BLM get covered than me, TBH, since I don't even lose Autoattacks while doing it, I keep yelling at my PLD to use it on the blm ( BONUS: our blm is kind of an idiot sometimes, at least if he gets covered he can forget manawall like usuall... )
