[request] increase Alexandrite fate drop rate

The drop rate is not 10%. It was 10% for the first week, it's back to 1% or less again. I have done 500 fates and got a whole 3 of the things.

I farmed 19 alexandrites from fates yesterday... 133 fates from start to finish.
Among those there was a few (less than 5 I think) that I only got silver on, but I'm not sure if gold is required to get an alexandrites so I count them all.
This was with a relic weapon animus equipped.
What weapon were you using?

I stayed mainly in low level areas like Western Thanalan, Central Thanalan, Middle La Noscea during my farming. Tried some other areas too, but I found those the best as the FATEs go down really quick.
I used the counter under achievement Destiny's Child (Battle -> Battle) to keep track of how many FATEs I completed.
Since I'm still below 3000 completed FATEs, that works fine.

I used my novus, then my nexus after the lights phase completed, and was in the exact same areas as you. You are seeing a 20% drop rate, which is also way out of the norm.

I did 3000 fates long ago, so cannot count using that method anymore.

Wow, people are really impatient... like others, I work full time and so have limited time. It took me 2 months to do the alex stage - just from daily maps and then buying extra with sol when I had it.

And actually, that worked perfectly as I also had to work on spiritbonding and earning gil for the materia.

If you want to rush the alex, do hunts.

Hunts, fates, sol... so many ways to get. They make it easier and people still complain... not everything should be achievable instantly.

I haven't farmed any and got 2 randomly doing fates when running through zones.

one of my fc mate farmed 15 in a day after patch.

White mage in Northern Thanalan is pretty OP for farming Alexandrite from Fates, since you can use Holy. I've gotten four today.

The thing is you can't really ask to have Alexandrite drop rate equal to Atma drop rate. This is because there are alternate ways to actually acquire your Alexandrite while Atma only has 1 way to obtain it. Alexandrite is an alternative solution to those that want to speed things up a bit, it's not a must.

It's you that choose to battle with rng though, how fast do you wish to complete this Novus step? What's the rush? Why do you really care whether you will or not be able to catch up with those with Zodiac already? Just play at your own pace man~

If you ask me, the whole relic quest needs to be trivialized. It's way too grindy, especially in its early stages, and for a weapon that's only equal in strength to equipment you could earn in a single day! You need 75 Alexandrite for your weapon. and 75 pieces of materia in varying grades. The materia requirement alone is enough of a barrier to prevent easy access except to the very wealthy, so it doesn't need to be so hard to find the catalysts.

Think of how the grind has worked to this point. You grind to get Atma. You grind to get soldiery tomes for your books, then grind to complete those too. That's just for the level 100 weapon, something you could purchase with a fraction of the soldiery costs of the books you've paid for! The next stage is to grind away endlessly for alexandrite, either by completing a daily map (1 per day, 75 days to complete!) or buying maps with YET MORE SOLDIERY! Heavens forbid you might want to actually spend that soldiery elsewhere.

The alternative? Grind Fates. I think people would mind less if it didn't matter which job you were on, but it does. You need to be on your job with the zodiac equipped for... reasons. So you don't benefit in any tangible way aside from some pocket change and a handful of seals which stopped being useful when we reached the cap on GC ranks.

So, yes... the relic quest needs to be made easier or at the very least we need more options as to where we can pick up alexandrite. There's a mountain of work to even get an entry-level weapon. So while everyone else is wielding Bartang and beyond, You're stuck with your pitiful level 100 weapon while you grind away at mysterious maps and pray to Hydaelyn than your alexandrite will drop.

...and that's before I talk about the light grinding... hoo boy.

They already made soldiery a dime-a-dozen for the books...doubled atma, alexandrite, and light obtained. Sorry, but I'm firmly against making the relic quest baby mode.
