Zodiac Weapon quest. leaving it till RNG update.

A couple of points:


1) RNG is in every mmo.
Yes. I'm sure people working on relics are aware of this.

2) The relic is optional.
Yes, it is optional. So also is turning on the console/pc to play. I'm sure people are aware there are other options.

3) The RNG is currently fine.
Yes, for yourself. That would be a matter of your own personal perspective. Not everyone agrees with the roll of the dice as you do. (Many agree on a skill as opposed to luck system.)

4) The Relic is a grind from start to finish. I'm working on my own for the sake of something to do between raiding. However, RNG does play a huge factor in it.
Some take 2 months just to get through atma. Others are finished the complete relic up to this point in that time. Yet others are stuck at novus due to alexandrite/Gil restraints.

5) Raid weapons will always be better.
Yes, for you. However, some may want to balance /minmax certain stats for their own personal preference, which is provided in the Relic option.


I post these not as someone who is "whining" about relics, i'm working on my novus and currently have no issues with it. It's simply damned irritating to come across these same copy/paste replies whenever someone dares to speak out against what is an aged system at best, and a damnright irritating one at worst.

Unless you're, say, a bard, whose Dreadwyrm bow has the exact stat layout we need from a weapon (unlike our chest piece or a lot of other pieces to the point we actually look like cyberpunk hobo clowns in the BIS armor) with the only argument being whether or not you need to stick some more acc on somewhere to compensate for how awesome it is.
Sometimes even the pinnacle of customization will fall flat before an item that's actually, for once, designed well.

Don't make the Zodiac your main focus.... get the shiva weapon or coil weapon, make the zodiac something you do when you're bored/free.

Personal preference does not make something better. Higher ilvl and better stat allocation does. Weapon damage is such a significant weight in every class that until Relics are the same ilvl/wdmg as Dreadwyrm, Dreadwyrm will always be the superior choice.

The only reason I got the Last Resort is because in Patch 2.4, there was nothing else to do after the Dreams of ice story and leveling up ninja. As bad as it is, the relic grind was still rewarding than the Vote Abandon message (or just a cascade of people leaving the instance) that constantly appears whenever any other endgame activity doesn't clear in one go.

I am light farming, spiritbinding, getting soldiery and might have a chance of a drop I need for next upgrade, I think it's perfect

Exactly. T4 in bright? Take 3-4 Astral sets and go get a ton of IV tier materia while you get light.

Given the nature of the line of relics, people like the OP are going to be "quitting" the game for months at a time, come back when some of the steps gotten easier, then quit yet again when they reach a step that has the original RNG mechanics. Rinse and repeat.

0/56 on voidwave from Haukke Manor. Finished every. other. part. of this. Have all my items and earned enough soldiery to buy another set worth of Waters. RNG is RNG and is bad at times.

Try it with another job. Sometime it helps.

I did Pharos Sirius 10 times with MNK, no drop
Then 10 times with WHM, no drop
And then once with NIN and got the drop

I quite liked zodiac, it was infinitely better than the mindnumbing light grind.

The drop rate is generally decent, you don't HAVE to the same dungeon over and over, that's why there are multiple quests to work on simultaneously.

this i choose 5 dungeons i need drop in n off i go whichever pops first i do it removes the same dungeon over n over grind some ppl are complaining about when i get a drop i remove it from df n choose another :P

I dont understand the preasure ppl's have for grinding that zodiac weapon....max ilvl is 125 while less grind is buying poetics weapon which is ilvl 120 and we can upgrade it to 130ilvl, right??
