No, I understand and agree that this game should require group effort. But my answer is to incorporate the group requirement into crafting, not limit a person from lvling crafts.

    Didnt think so lol
It wouldn't be a bad thing.

There are plenty of games that do this. Everyone would cry on the forums, adjust to the new playstyle and keep playing.

Ya I think people misinterpret the quote as saying "you can only have one craft to 50" when they meant that later on they may have it where you can only take one craft to the top.

if SE did decide on something like this I would suggest the following.

When you choose a craft to rank up past 50, instead of gaining skills for that class you earn a new form of guild marks called DoH Marks, which basically let you obtain your future abilities. Instead of gainging an ability every few levels you'll earn DoH Marks which will allow you to purchase the abilities past 50. They would be designated as to which class "should" get them but you would be free to choose the ability as long as your class rank is high enough to purchase them. Unlike other abilities that unlock from class quest these ability would only be accessible if you DoH Class of choice past 50 was the proper level. So even if you did have 15k to purchase the lv 70 ability if you are only lv 59 you wouldn't be able to purchase it.

This would allow the user to freely gain all the ability but not to the point where they can horde GM til they claim all abilities even if they aren't the proper rank to use it.

Though a big problem I see with this is it does take away from the ability to view all class quest since we can assume each one will continue up to level cap each time it's raised. So I guess another method could be this.
    ---------

You can rank up all your crafting classes however you can only "specialize" one. What is specialize? Specialize is basically a fancy name that means you can only have one craft class in which you can do special synths that you couldn't do if you didn't confirm that craft as your specialized craft.

    Benefits of Specialization:
Ability to repair Grade 7-10 dark matter.
Special synths such as Carpenter's ship hull synths, Blacksmith Cannon making, Alchemist Gunpowder, etc just to note some examples.

Basically the idea would be sure you can rank everything to cap but you can only dedicate yourself to one and once you do you won't be able to change it for your character no matter how much bellyaching or regret you have over it. However, it's not something you have to decide right away, you can look into it at your own pace and decide which craft you want to focus on. This way, when SE does decide to show us what the whole shipbuilding concept is about people won't be able to craft all the materials themselves and only need others just to put it together lol.

Developers tend to take on the easiest route this days, i think this complain is on perfect time and completely valid.
If we could change the vote to a more neutral ground we can give our cause even bigger weight common DNO!

They are related, but they're 2 different topics if you think about it.

What would be the pros to being able to only master one craft (I shouldn't have to add this but...) to a normal player with one account?

This have been discussed before , basically the bottom line is if you can have only 1 specialization , is the same as being "level" capped but with different methods. You are restricted to one only .meaning if you want a different one you need to re-roll

I'm not sure but based on this post, I think we are now on the same side...

Anyway, let me try and explain myself better. If I changed your quote to read...

I think the benefit to being able to only master one Combat class is that then you as the player will become better known and sought after.
The market wouldn't be flooded with stuff that no one can make gil on.
Players would be less faceless. As of right now everyone can have 50 in everything, where is the fun in that when there is no individuality?

I'm all for Mastering One Combat Class.
My point is, if you are going to limit on type of class you should do it for all. Now, if they do, I'm ok with it. My problem is only limiting the DoH.
