"Advertising" Board - Have Devs Ever Addressed This?

You speak about getting your name out there and reputation. Where does your reputation come from, if you aren't there to complete the orders?

Reputation comes from being able to respond to queries and requests promptly and able to deliver the goods promptly as well. Throwing your name out there simply doesn't suffice. People will always remember and speak of those crafters who have consistently delivered what they promised. I speak from experience myself.

Open world contents: Technically you can start a SB party, put up a PF and says spiritbond and your crafting service at the same time. Or SB with your FC/friends in a party and put up PF and advertise your service. As a WHM you can SB solo as well although not as fast in a party. Atmas can be farmed solo; being in a party doesn't increase your chances of getting an Atma. The requirement for gold is so low these days for FATEs, solo participation isn't a problem.

You definitely have choices but it is whether you can think of it and whether you are willing to do. The devs never said PF cannot be used for ads and until they say so, it is not being misused, period. They write the rules, and if there's no rule that says we are fouling it, we aren't. Plus I believe that there are higher priority problems and issues out there that they would want to resolve first. This "issue" is really one of the smaller problems that most of the player base live by. SE won't be spending time making changes or things that doesn't really give a tangible benefit to the majority of the player base.

Doesn't mean it shouldn't be suggested.

-Talking to an NPC while on chocobo.
-Auto dismounting chocobo when going into cities.
-Changing teleport names to easily understand where you're going (Fun Fact: I actually recommended this in Beta, but then they did the opposite for Gridania, then much later fixed it in a future patch).
-Sort function.
-Etc.

I'm sure there's a huge list of "minor inconveniences" that have been addressed. Things can always be better and should be discussed, and it seems like the devs do in fact listen to what people say occasionally.

I'm an old-school MMORPG player; I'm quite used to crafting being as much a part of the game as actual combat, so people buying their way to a win doesn't really jar with me. In SWG you took your dancer/musician/doctor/scout with you on 'raids' even though they didn't contribute in any actual fights.

I think housing promotes gil-buying more than merc runs do.

But I foresee even if they make a dedicate ads board (or sorting/list/group), ppl will just put their ads on both places or only on the most viewed place.
