"What if" situations seem a bit stupid to bring up at this point. The fact is, not every retainer is selling something. FFXIV is receiving its fixes over time.

It boggles my mind that you guys are defending a patently worse and less user friendly system over a simpler and dramatically superior one.

There are more mason wards than just the one in Ul'dah.
