I play on PS3 at the minute, and I'm already being limited. Whenever I fight Odin or King Behe I can see maybe 10 players around me when there's actually 10 parties around me. I can't even see/target S ranks or raise players in my party when fighting one because my PS3 can't handle it. I literally have to stand near the mob and use 'Holy' to get any credit. Whenever I teleport, I load in a lot later than PC/PS4 players do, which causes problems for things like hunts or fates when I need to get there quickly. This game is fairly new still, and with much more content to be added, I can see I'm going to need to buy a PS4 soon or things are going to suck.

On the PC version, under system configuration, there is an option to toggle various display settings to allow the game to run depending on your hardware. That's how you get around "hardware" limitations! You make the game scalable so it can run on a wide range of hardware.

As for the zones in the original FFXIV, they were huge and uninteresting, with almost no variety. One part looked like all the other parts. And getting from one place to another was AWFUL! No one wants big uninteresting zones. That's why they broke each area up, giving each area it's own memorable touch. You have Middle La Noscea with it's Skylift! Lower La Noscea with it's Salt Strands! Central Shroud with it's Sanguine Perch!

It has nothing to do with being an "elitist" playing on the PC at all.

It's the difference between driving a 10 year old Kia and driving a brand new electric Acura. One is going to be better, and faster, and prettier.

My PC has a Samsung 850 pro SSD, and I have no loading times at all, other than internet bandwidth.
I've watched streams of PS3 players, and they wait minutes to load each zone, it's insane man....

For those saying the PS3 isn't holding anything back, tell that to me when I'm first on the scene waiting for everyone else in ST to get to their points due to loading...

In my experience, the people with the longest load times are those who run the game on older laptops with 1-3GB of RAM and have no dedicated VRAM.

That's the way it goes with the PC version. It can run on the latest and greatest, or a 2008 budget laptop! Some people play on these older systems because it's their only option.

Yeah, this is one of the reasons for the 'downgrade' between 1.# and 2.0. Not the PS3, supposedly 1.# could have ran on it, but those PCs that couldn't even begin to run it. My laptop, which runs 2.0 like a boss, had a hard time at medium settings. And it was new at the time, an Asus g53sx! I dare not imagine what the average home computer in Japan was like then. And that's the rub. Sure, you may have the most beastly rig, but it all comes down to the average computer. I think it's safe to say that it's not a gaming rig like yours.

I think some of those people remembering 1.0's zones favorably might have some memory limitations.

True but not every PC gamer is a laptop user. I'm on desktop, every parts can be swapped out upgrade $150+ (sell old part and get new) every 2-3 years. Laptop GPUs are usually 30-40% slower than desktop. Today the 900M series due to efficiency design, it is close 15-20% from desktop.

Older laptop with 1-3GB RAM with 4 cores or less, those laptop are worth $200-$300 comparing to console $400-500. >.> Console is still much weaker than a budget gaming PC and it cannot be upgraded except the HDD to SSD.

    To answer OP
As tech move on, PS3 is limited for ages, PS4 is already at the limit right now too! If you doubt that... seriously go read up more about game development how each company said about X1 and PS4 with resolution gate vs FPS gate. For graphical games, you have a choice to pick 60FPS or 1080p. Some can be both because they are not graphical, indie games. DX12 on X1 might turn the game around but that's just 1 software upgrade that's about it. No more upgrades later.

Upgrade the hard drive with a SSD (solid state drive) and that will solve those loading issues greatly.

I remember Playing in the alpha and beta, early access and maybe about 6 months of 1.0. When you say "You have Middle La Noscea with it's Skylift! Lower La Noscea with it's Salt Strands!" It's funny because to me The zones in FF XIV ARR are worse then anything in the 1.0 version, even with the copy and pasted environments. You see, i found in 1.0 you felt like you were in a vast world. I remember taking the boat to Limsa, walking from Ulda'h to camp tranquil, Running out of anima and looking around for a teleport. Although the zones were empty, i feel and the sense of exploration was there. Places were dangerous, you walk around the wrong corner and bam, your dead. My personal opnion is when you buy and MMO you expect to be engulfed in the world and all it's wonders. Now my personal opinion is 1.0 had that feel, ARR isn't even close. It's kinda funny how in the early stages of 1.0 there was literally nothing to do besides leves, yet the world still engulfed me. Now we have ARR there is alot more to do in the open world, yet it fails in all attempts to engulf me. Personally i believe many hardcore players think what I'm about to say " ARR has one of the worst open worlds I've ever seen in any MMO" if they don't then i guess it's just me.
