SE, what happened?

I thought Atma was pretty telling with the amount of backlash players gave.

Now the RNG revolves around completing outdated dungeons and praying to RNJesus.

Reports of 20+ AV runs with no drop, etc.

Why did you decide to do this again?

Because the amount of backlash was not as great as you think it was.

Because this is their way of getting players back into old content. It's like any other part of the relic quest line, they need to force players into returning to old content because otherwise nobody in their right might would touch it.

Atma - Have Level 50 players spam FATEs to help new players have another option for EXP and make the open world seem more populated than it actually is
Animus - Do old dungeons to make queues better for new players + myth requirement means you were spamming some Lvl50 dungeons anyways
Novus - Just a huge gil sink in addition to the grind, still dunno wtf their intention was with this since Materia is ridiculously RNG and expensive as a result
Nexus - Spam a bunch of old trial instances to help new players (Though in their shortsightedness they didn't take into account people would just throw up PFs to burn through them as fast as possible rather than queuing up)
Final Stage - Do old dungeons (Wow this sounds familiar by this point), now with RNG, to help new players

The Relic Questline after the first step (Chimera, Amdapor, Hydra, Primals, etc.) was never about actually having something enjoyable to do. It was always about having a huge timesink along with making content easier to access for new players rather than making it enjoyable for the people doing the questline.

Your thread pertains to reporting the results, not discussing with SE or the players about the choice of direction.

Really? Because I remember practically 50+ posts and 1000+ comments of backlash lasting over a very long period of time (even beyond Atma's release) on NA Forums alone.

Because this is their way of getting players back into old content...

There are far better methods of getting players into old content... e.g. give 100% drop rate but the dungeon must be beaten in X amount of time (speed runs) or beat Leviathan/Ramuh/Shiva Ex wearing the absolute minimum ilvl requirement.

I guess that doesn't solve them trying to fill the low-level queues with tanks/healers however. Still though, it's a really uncool way to force archaic content on us (especially after we did this already for Animus).

I'm not saying that there aren't better methods, but this is basically their modus operandi at this point. They just want a way to funnel people into this stuff long-term and for whatever reason probably decided that after Animius and Nexus were pure grinds of irrelevant content they wanted to go back to RNG grind of irrelevant content again, that's all.

In an ideal world the relic questline would've actually been sequential steps of new content and instances, not sequential steps of increasingly irrelevant and time consuming garbage to do.

What do you mean RNG is back? It never left town in the first place.

I think I have a whopping 2 of the drops so far. It doesn't really bother me. I won't kill my own sanity by grinding dungeons non stop, especially since I hate a few of the ones we have to run. Me and 2-3 friends have an agreement to all run together and occasionally swap roles to keep things from getting too monotonous. With that said, we're doing other things too, and not just exclusively farming the relic crap. Again, I refuse to kill my own sanity. People that choose to flat-out grind it and then complain about how boring/hard/time consuming it is don't really get much sympathy from me because there's other options.

Personally, I absolutely love the Relic chain and the way it's been designed thusfar, yes, I know, I'm a minority with this opinion
