Hi, could you be more specific about "devs pretty much said no" part? Like how was it said.
I'm so glad so many people agree!! I agree with everyone: carby was such an important part FOR 30 LEVELS of fighting and tanking your instances (topaz carby) and to just make it disappear seems totally unfair.
If a job isn't viable, I really wonder if a Soul Stone (Carby) for SCH and SMN could be implemented perhaps as a side quest or maybe even in the MogStation shop.

What they didn't state that people figured out is Egis are designed to be "skinned" over Carbuncle, basically Carbuncle is the "class" and the Egi is the "job" - So there's a carbuncle for every Egi which means they would have to redo the system in place to allow Carbuncle to be used on SMN for example.
If it is skinned over, then it should just be a case of reapplying the Carbuncle art layer since the skills and increased potency is already in place. They're designed to replace carbuncle basically. Notice how Carbuncle and Egis have the same skills basically, that's not a coincidence. Which is why I said "skinned over" because it's basically being placed ontop of carbuncle for summoner. If they went the route they did with SCH there's a good possibility Carbuncles could remain with SMN, but they sadly did not.
You could also remove your job stone when you're not in a dungeon. That's what I do when I feel like seeing charby while I run around.
The issue is that, it's not scaled for end game, when it's just a small percentage difference in attack potency (for Emerald vs Garuda) and also in terms of tank enmity (Topaz vs Ifrit). This causes issues with other players who could voice annoyance. Also in end-game dungeons, its assumed that you would go in as a job instead of class (SMN/SCH instead of ACN). You might then argue, since difference is small, go ahead and use carbuncles by removing the soul stone. But then there are skills that arcanist don't possess since it's a class and not a job.
My point is, why not have something that keeps carbuncles relevant?
