It's one thing to be skeptical about what Yoshi-P said, it's another to tell people he will do the opposite. There's nothing to indicate textures will change at all, in fact we have an interview with the director saying they have no plans to change them at all. Just trying to make sure people don't get their hopes up from misinformation they got from some guy on the forum only to be disappointed. Also guys please remember. This game is in directx9 meaning many of those models can't really have textures that are much nicer than what you are already seeing. Upgrading them at this point wouldn't benefit the game enough to be worth the time. Once DirectX 11 is out that will change.

Please stop saying meany mean things that are true, it's inconsequential because it's my favorite game!
But anyway, you forgot the Dreadnaughts and Knights/Soldiers from FFXIII, and the Mimics form FFXII. They aren't touched up polygon wise in any way either mind you, aside from maybe some slight poly reductions for the XIII's models, they're 1:1 models and in many cases textures too no matter how much you argue against it. DX11 might do something about the overall graphical quality, but won't change the fact that those mobs were imported straight from their respective games.

Personally it doesn't bother me to see older models from other ff games for monsters.
What bothers me more is them reusing larger versions of basic monsters as bosses for endgame content. To me bosses should always be original and unique in some way.
That said though, you mention the copy/paste issue from 1.0 but that's vastly different than taking models from other games. If you played 1.0 you would know that zones literally had entire sections of terrain that were copy/pasted and that made zones bland.
To me this is not a big issue, I think eventually they will add higher res textures to new content and I personally do not want to see them waste time retouching old content that was rushed out to begin with. We need to move forward, not backwards, in my opinion.
1) The game was made in a ridiculously short amount of time. Copy-pasta was inevitable.
2) Even the lifted models have texture upgrades as well as lighting maps added to them, and are likely rigged/animated differently. Fair enough.
3) Yoshi mentioned alot about how with ARR, for the first time, they put aside their [crippling] egos and just buckled down with the intention of getting the game done above everything else...which basically just amounted to them cutting corners.
With square, you'll see them show and announce things that look awesome, only to have them take it back because they overreached themselves. It's probably the reason FFXIII Versus / FFXV still hasn't been released yet, and 7 years after the fact they still are showing footage of literally the same 3 areas we've been looking at since the game was announced. It's because they aren't getting anything done. Speaking of FFXV, anyone remember how you originally were able to control all the party members? Well, now we can't, because "technical" and "complications" and "story reasons" and excuse excuse excuse excuse.
I'm personally glad they lifted models from XII and XIII, because it's a good chance there would be nothing there instead. A more detailed model would have been great, but whatever FFXII is the best looking game on PS2 by a longshot, and it wouldn't have made PS3 development any easier.
In the end, 20 lifted enemies are better than 4 or 5 intricately designed ones. They can do more with it, the game feels larger because of it. I played the hell out of FFXII and I didn't even notice....so unique models would not have been worth the development time when they can just get it done and move forwards

1. Only because of 1.x existing it was done in a short time, so copy-pasting is usually done for efficiency rather than necessity.
2. Don't bother explaining this - people hung up on this will never realize it, especially when you start seeing someone saying they did a 1:1 import when that has never worked before unless it's the same format supported in the new engine, otherwise there will be work done to it. 1:1 import would mean Mandragoras (XI) would have their same low res texture, all of their original skillset and rigging from XI and same sound effects (though these are engine specific calls, it would still exist) and more importantly, use Dream Flower.
...I have yet to see Dream Flower.
Pugil isn't same model or same texture, Grenade isn't same model or texture. I see consistent portrayals but I don't see identical models and textures.
You can't have even looked at the pugils you posted, they aren't identical. You must not have been too good at the "spot the differences" pages in Highlights magazine.
I don't mind
