So, you're under the dillusion that Square Enix isn't a business?

Final Fantasy XIV : ARR, is NOT their only product. Any revenue generated by ARR gets split apart and drafted into the rest of the company.


However, if more revenue besides the monthly subscriptions is acquired, extra previously declined financial investments can be considered such as the EU datacentre, which is going to cost somewhere in the regions of a few hundred thousand Euro's to initially setup and them maintain. From a financial standpoint they'll consider how much per-month on average is being earned for ARR to provide a projected profit, and now ontop of this they can add in the additional sales of the Mogstation.

This drastically increases ARR's chances of;
-Hiring New Staff
-Seeking new Additions/Ventures

Which leads to new content and faster, and an overall more convenient experience.

The money from the Mogstation additional services eases the cost of a complete new datacentres initial costs which is going to be a rather large financial blow to the ARR team's budget.


THE MOGSTATION ITSELF WILL NOT PAY FOR THESE NEW ADDITIONS. Don't become confused on this, this subsidises the overall cost to setup the new datacentre in Europe, which will pay it's investment overtime (similar to the extra servers added on launch to cope with the stress).

Then simply don't. These were items/services that were made AND requested by players FOR the Mogstation.

It generates money for the game, which in return goes BACK TO YOU, and the game that you play.

If you still think that a few $3 minions is a mad cash-grab and not a way to improve the game, you're a fool.
