I fixed it a bit
and exactly this. But not change the rule of 1 job = 2 sub classes, but more about arranging which job get which sub class again. The current job system works under the assumption that they can only draw abilities from two other classes besides their base class. SMN=Archer/Thaumaturge, SCH=Conjurer/Thaumaturge, BLM=Arcanist/Archer, WAR=Pugilist/Gladiator etc etc, which means they would of had to change the rules that jobs abide by.

Unless from NIN on they start adding a 3rd class jobs can pull from or remove the class lockouts and start picking and choosing what skill/ability every job can get from the others.
They may just be delaying the cross-class sharing until Heavensward. The big problem right now is that any job that gets access to Perfect Dodge, Goad and Death Blossum in addition to its existing cross-class skills will have an advantage over those classes who do not have a 3rd class to cross-class with. Each class will likely get their 3rd cross-class skill set when Dark Knight and the as yet unnamed Gun class are introduced in 3.0.
To be honest they'll probably only give the abilities to MNK and DRG. Getting Goad alone will give DRG more utility, but having an actual AoE before level 40 will be a MASSIVE gamechanger. Plus Perfect Dodge guarantees they can Jump without getting hit by any physical attacks. MNKs...we're already solid without those abilities, so they wouldn't change much. They may just be delaying the cross-class sharing until Heavensward. Monk would still gain a bit from Perfect Dodge and Death Blossum, but I suspect that Dark Knight could get access to ROG Cross Class skills also.To be honest they'll probably only give the abilities to MNK and DRG. Level 16 PUG is apparently not high enough to create a thread of my own, so I'm forced to ask in a ninja based post, sorry!
I'm a new player trying to build a ninja, but I've just gone over the level 16 PUG cliff on my way to my airship pass. Can I still build up as a viable Ninja or should I just make this my Monk and level up a new Ninja? Not being able to get my Rogue job without the airship pass was a surprise -_-

It sounds like your talking about making a new character to play as ninja. If so that's not necessary. You can level up all jobs on one character. In fact it's necessary to level up multiple classes in order to unlock jobs. You can also take skills you've learned from classes and use them with other classes.Level 16 PUG is apparently not high enough to create a thread of my own, so I'm forced to ask in a ninja based post, sorry!

You don't need to create a complete character.Level 16 PUG is apparently not high enough to create a thread of my own, so I'm forced to ask in a ninja based post, sorry!

Once you finished the lv 10 class quest of your starting class you can unlock other classes in the other class guilds.
The Rogue class guild is hidden, but there is a sidequest at the Aetherite place in Limsa that show you where the guild is.

Oh I know it's awful. The entire skill is a joke tbh IMO. It should be 100 potency without the trait, 140 with it. But right now DRG is pretty much the only job without an AoE until level 40. Just being able to cross-class it would change that. But I'd prefer to have that potency increased before it happens.
