Inflation Control - Novus weapons needing Materia

I really wish I could hop in here with a cool idea for how to fix the inflation problems on the market, but figuring out an in-game economy is not really my forte.

That said, I don't think the merit of a person's Novus weapon should be based on the amount of Gil they own.
I understand that SBing exists, but with the RNG element, a person is just as likely to have to spend the same amount of gil on gear before obtaining the right materia as they would just buying it straight off of the marketplace.

Which then, if someone is less fortunate in gil or doesn't have the RNG god gene, they are left with 2 options;
- Hold off until the point they have enough gil to buy the most advantageous materia for the weapon,
OR
- Settle for the shittier option and buy/use materia that is more affordable, leaving them with an irreversible, inferior product.

I just don't like the idea that something someone is working so hard to obtain will only ever be as good as the size of their wallet.

You can always go 33 crit 23 det and 19 acc is cheaper that way the extra stat is not worth the money

I've been stuck on my only novus for my main class for months. My problem isn't with the alexandrite or any other aspect of the relic quest, it's just that I'm not a three or four star crafter and im not going to buy Gil to be able to afford the best materia for my novus. There's two stats that I need to finish maxing my weapon and savage aim and might iv's are going for 800k and 650k respectively on my server. I've been spirit bonding for months now and I can count on one hand the savage aim and might iv's I've gotten. IMO SE is basically saying have a high level crafter to be able to make the money for the best novus you can get for most characters, have months to play the rng and spirit bond your own materia, the Gil sellers, or just settle for a bad weapon. I'm starting to see all signs point to everyone having to be a four star crafter to be able to afford a good novus unless you are ok with being at the mercy of rng forever, or the Gil bots:/

A solution (if one is needed) is to let Savage Aim IV give 4 points of crit. Same with all stats. Tier IV materia gives 4 "points" on the infusion scroll. Honestly, that's what I see SE doing eventually. They'll allow players to either earn 75 alexandrites (expend the time farming it all) and then use all Tier 1 materia or spend only 18 alexandrite, but be forced to use all tier IV materia for the stats.

just by buying wedding stuff tens of millions of gil vanish from every server every day

I dont know how many gil are generated per day but I'ld say just because of the wedding npc the servers are going to lose more money than they generate each day, which works pretty well against an inflation

If you need money or materia: start desynthing the stuff yourself. If I invest 2m gil in wedding gear (which takes about 30 min) I usually make 5m by selling the demi III (~42k), hard leather (30k) and HQ leather (50k)

you can also use the leathers to craft ilvl 70 dow gear and bind it in 4-5 t4 runs, the grade IV materia rate from ilvl 70 stuff is ~40% and you still have the chances to get allagan leather + silks which also sell for a lot

In terms of time spent SBing it is probably better to SB crafter/gatherer gear and sell the materia you get then use the gil to buy the ones you want. You don't have to worry about getting materia that will sell for less than the cost of the gear that way.

Off topic a bit, but this is yet another large issue I have with the relic/Zodiac quests. The challenge has been removed in favor of a gil sink. And this is on top of several layers of previous time grinds. I want a relic just like everyone else, but I can't justify the means to that end. That's just me though.

Still, if getting the will-be best weapon in the game requires I pay upwards of what buying a large housing plot would cost, I'd rather just get the large housing plot. I like to raid anyways, and would prefer the alternatives in place, however transient they may be.

^ cant justify starting the Zodiak quest either especially at this time. I start now by the time im finished, expansion will be out soon enough that it makes it meh. Dont even need the novus.
