blame on your character customize skill :P

Uhh, adding more noses and faces wouldn't do anything to packet size. Those variables already take a byte at least (unless SE is doing bitshifting and purposely shrinking their cap) giving a Max of 256 options. This is a dev time issue. The less character data, the less packet i
Is easier to send than percentages for;
5 mouth factors
4 nose factors
7 eye area factprs
(etc)
What are packets?
The packets of information being sent You > Server > You.
The more information you cram into these the longer it takes to transmit the packet.
Cutting down on the amount of information required in these helps reduce latency, so the more finite character details will simply bloat it un-nessecarily.
Also a lot of that data is probably cached and isn't updated like appearance data.
I'm just regurgitating what they said about intricate character customization, they were never against adding 1-2 new options, they were against adding in intricate character adjustments. Perhaps they lied, but the last time this came up they said that they wanted to keep the packet data as low as possible and complex character appearance was one of the concerns.Uhh, adding more noses and faces wouldn't do anything to packet size.. I'd completely agree that it conflicts more with their adamant stance on a certain level of quality and rigidity on the design of the game.
Give players too much freedom and they have a tendency to make things look too odd. FFXIV 1.23 was nice in that it had a very restrictive character creator depending on your race/clan.
We have a lot more customisation this time than we did in 1.23, it's not as expansive as other games, but they development team works differently.
Quality Vs. Quantity rings very strongly here

Within Miqote yes you're right there are many who look similar due to the amount of people who play them but when you branch out I don't remotely see how this game is "attack of the clones".One of its strengths is how unique people can make themselves. If you want to see attack of the clones go play WoW.There is absolutely no customization in that game. I do agree though that this game needs a bit more variety in the face types throughout the races. Not every miqote should have a baby face, not every roe should be hard looking, etc.I think this game's character customisation is poor and problematic.Very few options and most of them are badly designed or boring. I hope SE reconsiders on this matter and release a real face and body customisation patch. And not just 1 new bad looking hairstyle but a pack of serious and numerous options including faces, eyes, noses, mouths, bodies etc.Sucks to have 2.5 million players who look like the attack of the clones.

Alphinaud looks too young for my tastes. Now Urianger on the other hand... Now THAT is some Elezen eye-candy right there!*notices the thread*
.....*looks at her Miqo'te alt that she made SPECIFICALLY for eye candy*
*stops herself short of jumping all the Miqo'te pics here*
Aheh...this is a troll thread, right?
I mean, srsly, to each his/her own, but don't you think it's a bit drastic to demand a complete change to the male race? I mean, I don't find too many of the Elezen male class attractive, myself; save for a few npc (...hello Alphinaud. Srsly, The Twelve help us all when he turns 18...), but I'm not gonna ask for a complete makeover of the race. :s
...unless this whole thing is just a cover for the "There should be no Male Miqo'tes!" rant...
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
