X-potions are used a lot in raids. They are pretty expensive to buy too someone is making bank on them.

I'm not really sure about this, in my server (moogle eu) x-potions are only being sold in normal quality which cost less than 1k each.. Below 100 at times.. And i think they mainly come from high level dungeon's coffer..
I know there are some people who buy bulks of them, but overall, not many people actually use them the way i see it..
Zumi is speaking about x-potions of stats, IE X-Potion of Strength. The current price for an HQ X-Pot of STR on Excalibur is 4700 gil, and that price increases greatly at the launch of a new patch.

Aahh i see.. Thank you for clarification..
Ethers and Stat boost potions tend to be fine and usable because their effects have not diminished as ilevels have increased unlike what happens with HP potions. An X-Ether still allows you to cast a spell the same number of additional times whether you are i55 or i130. An X-Potion on the other hand has diminished from 24% of a character's HP at i50 to less than 10% at i130.
