The more I think about it and the more I read through this thread, the more i realise that I really do prefer the current system in place. I noticed that some people here prefer to do away with the trinity in favour of more customization, and I can understand that it may sound pretty good.
The way it works now, all your skills from your classes/jobs actually have a use instead of being a filler for the next best upgrade which makes the skill obsolete. All jobs are pretty balanced in this game which is pretty nice. Personally, I'd rather they steer away from, "Oh just spam Fire III for max deeps!" and the sort.
In case someone mentions about rotations being bland or repetitive as well; the jobs are tweaked to the point where certain jobs have to chain skills to get the most out of them. However, to chain them efficiently is a whole different story. You have to consider fighting in a boss environment where you have to guess and think on the fly and not against a training dummy. You're going to end up messing up at some point, and the fun bit is trying to figure out how you are going to recover from that flub on the spot.

That 10% debuff is pretty substantial at the start when all CDs are available, and pretty much every time after.
Also, y'know, Goad.
That said, I don't think NIN rises to the level of BRD in terms of utility, as it isn't a utility based job.
Though this has been addressed many times and to be fair this job would actually do fine in end game provided the player has more i120/i130 gear, DRGs are being forced to switch to MNK or NIN for FCoB progression. Some have made it to t13, but I don't think any have passed it just yet. Also there was the entirety of 2.0 where many WARs were excluded from Coil.

I think it's less of DRG being "forced" to switch to any class and more of people crying in a thread over stuff that hasn't even happened yet.Though this has been addressed many times and to be fair this job would actually do fine in end game provided the player has more i120/i130 gear, DRGs are being forced to switch to MNK or NIN for FCoB progression. Since you appear to have forgotten what you wrote, I'll post what I quoted:
If you actually do end-game, especially without a FC, you will be forced into certain classes for specific reasons: For example T7 lots will expect a SMN or BRD to kite, which is what the beauty of being able to level every class on one character does. And you even admitted you never really played XI, so I don't see how you can say you ever had to make a choice in a game you never played (Protip: no job was excluded, just people bad at x job which is why people didn't want to take the job, for example people said Blue Mage and Corsair were worthless end-game.) Lots of end-game (coil specifically) people go with very specific setups, this is why I said either you don't do end-game or your server is exempt from forcing people into certain classes and excluding others. And as said, not even in XI was that true, no one in any MMORPG wants someone that's bad at their job which makes it look bad, look at XIV and DRG/NIN..NIN is arguably the most OP job utility wise and burst DPS wise..yet you see them dead the majority of the time or seemingly inability to dodge stuff..despite being a 'ninja.'
SE even commented on how DRGs will be looked at because the newer coils a lot of FCs are excluding them because quite frankly MNK and NIN has the better utility. Your usual retort will be: "oh but that's only one example", you asked you received.
Yeah, Diabolos definitely must be exempt from the problems in ARR - must be a pretty nice server to be honest. It was addressed by SE and has become common knowledge in the end-game community that if you play DRG you are expected to swap to one of your other geared jobs.

Aside from the fact that WAR was a worthless and broken tank when it came to raid content in 2.0, which has nothing to do with the statement. He means currently, which all classes are capable of. People are just basing this off of the "elite" raiders wanting to beat it before anyone else, thus using top DPS comps to do so.
OP: The whole comparison to XI thing is pretty old. Not only is it two completely different systems, but it has been said many times by the dev team that they want XIV to break away from XI. Not to be completely similar. We can stop the doom and gloom over the fact that "it's not XI" any day now. Trinity MMO games have been, and are still among the top money makers within the business.
@Tupsi I know T7 requires a kiter, but that is one DPS out of four, I didn't ask you which class is preferred, I asked you which class is excluded from content, so far the only in danger of being excluded is DRG, but so far people haven't been taking it to the extremes yet, at least in game.
And really? Really? A post made just yesterday by SE and you're already changing what they said to spread misinformation?
"SE even commented on how DRGs will be looked at because the newer coils a lot of FCs are excluding them"
Where in that text do you read they are doing it "because the newer coils a lot of FCs are excluding them"
This is exactly what you do with anything Yoshida says.
As for the XI remark, do you think XI was the only other online game ever? Or the only other online game where people were/are discriminated by their class choice?
I don't believe for a second every single party of your server already started excluding dragoons.
Misinformation? You yourself just ignored what they wrote. This is why I have a good feeling you don't do end-game, because it's become common knowledge FCs are excluding DRGs for the higher coils, especially the final 2. So..what misinformation? You asked and got an answer. You should probably actually do end-game, because the topic they replied in mostly started because people started excluding DRGs, thus making the problem more known. Is it really that hard to grasp?
For someone claiming someone else about spreading misinformation, you sure do seem to love twisting people's words. XI is one of the few MMOs that allows you to change your class on the same character which is what makes it more likely to run into certain issues on this subject. As for the XI remark, do you think XI was the only other online game ever?
I don't remember who it was that said it, but I think it strucks a good point. "Trinity wasn't created by the developers, it was created by the players", to optimize a party set up. Why have everyone be a half-assed at everything, when you can stack all the defensive stuff on one guy, all the healing on another and all the attack power on the rest? It's more efficient and it's the natural evolution, even in nature and society, when units of the society specialize in a more narrow field to enhance the group as a whole.
