You're assuming a lot of things by saying the Nexus will be useless. It WILL get more content patches to up it's iLvl and stats. We have 6 people in my raid team that actively do their relics when the new upgrades drop. Some way faster than others.

We downed T9 around 20 times and never saw a Summoner book. Not even one. Wanna know who our first person with Nexus was? Our Summoner. Not because the weapon wasn't dropping, but because we kept up with our relics. Doing your relic ensures you that you will have a viable weapon when content drops. Sure i115 isn't as good as i135 but the vast majority of people including the hardcore raiders won't have their i135 weapons for a long time and in the case of our group never. Having an option besides waiting for an RNG drop (instead of 6 Warrior Axes!!) is wonderful. I like knowing that I'm always going to have a weapon that will be good. Just because you can do the content, doesn't mean you WILL be rewarded for it.

and I don't remember how the order went after that but it was something we've already seen. The point is by the time we had our second warrior axe, it became pretty irrelevant what weapon dropped. Our SMN didn't have Nexus yet but at that point he really didn't care whether or not his book dropped. I was in the same boat. We had spent well over 2 months with the content on farm only to receive no benefit. There was plenty of gear we still never saw. We didn't need the new weapons, we could do the content fine without High Allagan. Nexus was a nice change. Something we could go for without having to rely on RNG.

It's no more productive than you soloing mid 40 mobs for Animus books with a chocobo. To assume any more than that is not only short sighted, but just stupid. Just because you like to beat on lower leveled mob all by yourself doesn't detract from the fact that someone else thinks it's dull.

And so will the other weapons available, which is how we ended up where we are.

The point people are trying to make is that Nexus, unlike those other weapons, is a really grindy quest to obtain. It's only natural that people will want to be rewarded for the amount of effort they've put into it. Getting a single drop which nets you an identical weapon makes this whole grind far less attractive, and getting a SUPERIOR weapon just makes it utterly meaningless.

I mean, it's not as if Zodiac weapons currently have some superior ability beyond their normal stats. If they did, it might justify the grind. Since we only have the base stats on gear presently, there's just no reason to use a zodiac over one of the quicker to obtain alternatives.

Oh ya, because the 40 mob was the ultimate challenge on nexus, nothing to do with 2000x CW, or 500 Garuda/titan/T4-t1, nothing to do with the dungeon spam for 30,000 myth or 4,500 myth, or book.

I don't really care to do the math on this so I'll take your word for it but what I will say is your 3.5 hour limit you put on my groups farming the turn is completely wrong. You are ignoring the amount of time we put into it just to get the first down. You said it yourself that raiders are "grinding wipes." I'm not saying you don't have a right to feel like you put in a ton of work for a weapon that became not the best weapon anymore, what I'm saying is it isn't getting thrown to the side. The exact same thing that happened to Nexus, happened to the High Allagan. You start the grind all over again. Two different paths that result in a somewhat identical weapon. You get to choose which path you take. Having a relic on standby means that my group doesn't have to feed me weapons. They don't have to baby me and hold my hand. I can get a weapon all on my own AND I don't have to pray to RNGeezus. I'll take my relic and if in the meantime I can nab a Dreadwyrm Staff, I will.

I do agree on that, is why i am asking an equal weapon power, or close to it. Don't have to be the BiS, but at lease something we can work along the new content. (This say, i have grinded the wipe of T9 as much as you) My raid still do T9 bc BRD bow refuse to drop. (It just add up on top of my nexus)

Just to be clear, I totally agree with you. There is content outside of coil. I choose to do it because it's fun. I chose to do relic because that too is fun. Both, I repeat, BOTH of those can be stressful, annoying, boring, tedious, etc. at times. I've played plenty of FF games before and have learned to expect and enjoy the boring ass grind. It's part of the game. It's not for everyone which is why there is other content in the game. Coil isn't the end all content. It just happens to be the hardest.

I think what SE is doing is making it so that raid content is relevant. When they release new raid content (i.e. Final Coil of Bahamut) they would not want to release an update on the relic quest at the same time. It would make doing the new raid completely irrelevant outside of the story and the few people who would do it anyways just for the challenge. Sure this screws over the "casual" crowd for a few months but I feel like they do release a decent amount of content to keep people busy in the meantime. I mean, hell, I just spent this entire new patch leveling Ninja. I've done nothing else besides: down t10, unlock expert roulette and get my NIN to 49. I'm looking forward to doing the rest of the content. Not all of it HAS to be about upgrading my current gear.

I can't really say I find random Atma drops (3 weeks to get 12, for me), grinding lowbie content and murderously bad melding in the least bit enjoyable. The relic seems like a painful way to get an ultimately mediocre weapon.

But that irrelevant, if they make a quest to upgrade Relic equal as the Ironwork, raider still can own the best weapon of the game in T13.

I am not saying they should make a quest to upgrade your relic form i115 to i130, but it would make sense for the i120 version. You really think DEV going to make the new upgrade easy? You can count another 2~4 week of work for the next upgrade.
