So you think it would be better for only a few people to have knowledge that gives them a market advantage, and everyone else who didn't get to view it are out of luck?

No, leaving it on there was the best course they could have taken.

I've been getting them pretty regular from desynthing the Artisan's glasses. So not going to need to buy any at all, in fact I wound up getting two Supras and even selling some

Not even a need to debate it. They could have removed it and said whatever they wanted - for their reason to remove, (including translation issues, restructuring of recipes, stating that "since recipes will be changing so much we have decided not to list their recipes at this time"...ect..) instead they stated that these recipes were for later patches, practically confirming their finality. This lead to a surge on the markets.

People saw the information anyway. Taking the info down would do nothing to stop people from spreading the information. Once you fudge up, the internet simply does not forget what it learns.

What they say doesn't matter. What matters is that removing it would give those who saw it an unfair advantage over those who didn't. This is not a smart thing to do.

And they didn't state the recipes are for later patches. That only pertains to the items that they did remove from the list.

In the end I don't think it really mattered much. Prices would have gone berzerk after the patch if it was kept secret too. The early release just move the market shock forward a few days.

    Also, policy? O.O

What's funny is that I really don't even care - as none of this affected me personally, but I can see what it did and I think its careless.
Regardless if it was before or during maintenance, the price hikes would have happened none the less. Slower pace? sure maybe for a few lucky first timers logging on and swiping all the lower priced mats and only a few would have made a hefty profit.

I believe that the early release of the notes was a good thing. As a crafter and remembering the patch 2.2s price spike, I started buying i70 and i90 mats 6 weeks ago and have stacks of them from buying a few mats every day. By releasing the patch notes early it allowed non crafting players to save or spend their myth tomes on mats to sell on the board to crafters that didn't plan ahead or crafters that need more mats and are willing to pay the extra gil for it. The early release will give a smoother transition into the patch for both crafting and non crafting classes. The final part is that the patch notes did not state stats for crafting the new master books or the exchange for oak knots. If oak knots are 8:1 trade in, it will take a very long time to finish master crafting books if it is 8:3, not so bad.
With the notes out early, SE can watch the forums for anyone that sees where there could be major complaints at release, change recipes, drop rates and exchange rates before the patch goes live. If the patch notes on 2.3 hunts were released early, SE could have seen the mess that hunts became before the patch was out and made adjustments ahead of time.
SE, I think this time and in the future you should release the notes 3 days before a major patch. It will give us time to give you feed back if there are any major issues that we see as a larger community then you might not see as a smaller team. 3 days is also not enough time to harm the MB or change the launch of a patch one way or another. Nothing in the released notes harmed the patch, I do think it helped many non crafters sell their i70 and i90 mats to make extra gil for buying personal housing, new gear or have extra gil on hand.
