Well... If you only use it for glamour, there's no reason to get HQ version. But if you still haven't levelled all your classes yet, the HQ version offers slightly more def/mdef which makes a difference if you wear the actual item from lvl 1 to lvl 5-ish. I have a friend who spent her first levels in some classes in HQ hempen chemise/pantalette set because it was the best gear she had.
If they made crafters have the ability to craft gear on par with the current endgame levels then you can have your vanity gear at level 1 crafting for all I care. But since that will never be the case and the raider would cry foul of anyone being able to "buy" their way into endgame you'll just have to deal with that sweet vanity gear being gated behind high level crafting. People pay for vanity gear because it is special, so you can throw together interesting new looks. If everything was super easy to obtain and just handed to people why bother at all. Why not just have NPC's sell all the gear we'd ever want for 1gil each?
When things take actual effort to earn you tend to enjoy the spoils that much more.
Just your friendly neighborhood elezen
I have twinthread just lying around in my inventory.
There are only so many ways to make crafting profitable:
1. Single items that sell with great margins
2. Stacked items that sell with good margins
3. Items used for the crafter's benefit
1 and 2 are basically what we have now: craft for the non-crafters and craft for the crafters. We kinda also have #3, but only in crafting gear. What I would like to see is high-level gear being crafted from untradeable raid/dungeon drops.
Besides, as it stands now, if you're willing to take on a bit of haste, crafted gear can already be BiS, so the fears of RMT make no sense.
TBH, im counting the days till Glamour stuff is in the store for 3 dollars or more, and I still think that in itself is a slippery slope.
The real issue isn't how do you make crafting relevant. It's already relevant just by virtue of having craftable gear. The issue is how vanity requires just as much commitment in gear as the armors and accessories. Why is a Spring Skirt just as hard to make as a Vanya Breeches of Healing? I can understand making the armors and weapons starred recipes, they are stat'd items, but vanity has only one stat and that's required level to equip! Makes no sense.
Vanya Silk is like 20-30k, what the hell are you complaining about? It's easily farmable with the Ixali dailies out now.
Wow, you totally don't get it. The first car costs $50,000. Guess what? There are cars in the same class as that one that cost less than $20,000. The point being that there are RANGES. Not everything is 'elite.' Yet, in this game, pretty much all vanity (save for maybe one or two pieces?) requires you to be level 50 before you can craft it, or requires you to shell out quite a bit of gil (100,000+ is a lot of money for a low-level character, and for some who aren't low-level but don't have tons of time to play) if you want it. That'd be like needing to buy a suit but only being able to by Armani because no one else could make them.
transfer to my server and I'll donate you the needed 50k, just stop to cry about nothing, lol
