    Those items are pretty damn easy to get, in contrast to the crescent moon cone or how expensive it was to get the sailor outfit within the first months, floss silk is still around 700k in my server. You can gather all mats yourself and ask a crafter to make these items for you if you dont have the required class or don't meet the required stats.

    These...aren't that hard to get. Getting your desynth high enough to break down what's needed to get II's is pretty easy, and the mats for vanya silk are easy to get since the current patch. Twinthread haven't been hard to get for a couple of patches, now. Knowing how other vanity recipes are, I'm actually kind of surprised (and glad) how relatively easy it is.

    Maybe the two OP examples are not the best, but in general - yes, vanity stuff is just insanely gated behind way too high level crafting (and/or gathering). When in all honesty, it should be something fun and at least partially easily available. But yes, there are no easily available counterparts. I understand the need to try to make crafting (and gathering) useful, but this just isn't the right way to do that.

    And it's even more annoying when the vanity gear is seasonal - summer gear for the most part still being sold for ridiculous amounts of gil (seriously, would you pay 10 or more percent of a house (well the plot but you get the analogy) to get an item that's not good for anything but visuals? - and that's a medium sized plot, it's even more insane when compared to the price of a small), some of the coeurl set still doesn't even have a sale history on Shiva, meaning nobody's even got to the point where they'd put them up for sale there. It's mind-boggling.

    And while at it: why does HQ version of such items even exist?? By that logic, we should be able to make HQ furniture too, for example...where it's nicely solved that it doesn't exist.

    What would be the right way to make crafting and gathering useful then? Yoshi has already said they won't get anything on the level of tome or coil gear due to rmt fears so what should crafters get to craft that isn't vanity and will still be popular enough for them to make the investments they've made in leveling, gearing and melding profitable?

    There are only so many ways to make crafting profitable:

    1. Single items that sell with great margins
    2. Stacked items that sell with good margins
    3. Items used for the crafter's benefit

    1 and 2 are basically what we have now: craft for the non-crafters and craft for the crafters. We kinda also have #3, but only in crafting gear. What I would like to see is high-level gear being crafted from untradeable raid/dungeon drops.

    Besides, as it stands now, if you're willing to take on a bit of haste, crafted gear can already be BiS, so the fears of RMT make no sense.

    Well... If you only use it for glamour, there's no reason to get HQ version. But if you still haven't levelled all your classes yet, the HQ version offers slightly more def/mdef which makes a difference if you wear the actual item from lvl 1 to lvl 5-ish. I have a friend who spent her first levels in some classes in HQ hempen chemise/pantalette set because it was the best gear she had.

    The Desynthesis system just feels very dumb to me. Why do you need demateria to make a tuxedo of all things? They're trying to force us to use a system that should have been long left in FFXI.

    The rest of the item list looks reasonable, but yeah, it'll probably be a 4 star craft anyway ._.

    Ýou can craft those with food and fc buff and you don't need to meld anything at all. They are really cheap

    Also I disagree with some of you, I love the vanity system. I love that its expensive and hard to get the mats, cause that is what keeps me playing this game.

    Hopefully they change the combat system so itd would be more fun and responsive, but for now vanity is the only thing I truly like and if it was easy to get id be done with a patch after a week
