Not everything is 'elite.' Yet, in this game, pretty much all vanity (save for maybe one or two pieces?) requires you to be level 50 before you can craft it, or requires you to shell out quite a bit of gil (100,000+ is a lot of money for a low-level character, and for some who aren't low-level but don't have tons of time to play) if you want it. That'd be like needing to buy a suit but only being able to by Armani because no one else could make them.
Tbh I just wanted to make a witty joke, Im not american so I have no idea how much $50,000. They could show me an add of milk costing $50000 and I wouldn't know if its cheap or not.
also I know nothing about cars

so don't wow me you car loving american!

One rationale is that our guilds can only provide us with so much training to work with functional fabrics (i.e. levels 1-49). You can't work with wool until you're lv38, and you can't create functional things out of wool until you're lv39, etc. This training stops at felt, and we need additional expertise to work with difficult materials such as twinthread, cashmere, and soon Arachne. This extra expertise comes in the form of crafting stats. The sailor shirts look pretty basic but they still use twinthread. The dresses do use vanya (probably as mere lining) but the real kicker are the dress materials which must be made from something similar to cashmere.

The other rationale is that we train up by making functional gear, stuff meant to be used and abused. While we're skilled at making stuff designed to take a beating from dragon hellfire and whatnot, we lack the expertise to make beautiful ribbons, fancy embroidery, and the art of preserving fine flowers. Hence why we GSM50s couldn't just make our own Ladies' Day mammets... we have no idea how to make a puppet that moves like a feminine princess - at least until we have the same crafting stats as Serendipity.

In the end though, it's crafted gear. If you don't want to buy it, there's nothing stopping you from making it yourself without having spent a single gil.

I enjoy being rewarded for putting forth the effort to make gil. It's a big part of what makes crafting worthwhile. I don't see anything wrong with being required to put some effort into having nice stuff. If newer players see things they want that require an investment of time and energy then they should be pursuing that instead of sitting around complaining about how hard it is. Accomplishing goals is what brings satisfaction in this game.

It takes at most 10 days of casual leves and supply missions to reach level 50. This is easy for anyone to do.

I'm more concerned over what level of crafting skill it's going to require. 3-star is already prohibitively expensive to obtain, requiring literally the best possible melds imaginable to even attempt it and millions of gil in materia. Ignoring the fact that every single i55 crafting item requires 10 fieldcraft demimateria, which again either costs a lot of gil or relies on a lot of luck and random chance.

If they add a new 4-star rank or worse I may just have to hang up my needle and thread altogether.

I agree, but when it comes to crafting you need an investment of literally millions of gil to get a foothold in the market. Most newcomers don't have close to that amount of gil, and making it is a lot more difficult if you're not already at that level.

Judging by the mats, this is most likely a two star recipe.

Four star will be using the new mats: arachne, wootz, platinum, and kirimu

Yes all vanity items should be a level 1 craft requiring no more than 100 gil, thanks.

I like how raiders want everything not raiding handed to them (PvP gear, Vanity gear, gil, etc) and expect it to be so.

But then someone asked for a nerf of old raid content (cough second coil cough) so the people who mainly craft/vend/pvp can experience, the entire PvE community gets up in arms.

I hope so. It would keep it in the realms of realism for most crafters. Personally though, I'm more disappointed that higher tier crafting gear hasn't been announced as a 2-star crafting option. It would give crafters other means by which to reach the lofty heights required by the higher tiers without needing to get extremely lucky with expensive materia melds.
