No base class? Could we finally get rid of the others then?
Shame about awkwardly shoving everything into the 3 role system. But great swords are a tempting offer.

Makes what they did with Summoner and Scholar just appear awkward and forced at this point since it looks like they're going to just do away with the diverging class thing altogether at this point.
I love XI, but Dark Knights have always traditionally been sword users. Either one-handers in IV or great swords in X-2 or XI. Yoshi-P even said a long time ago that he didn't understand why they would use Scythes.
Summoner should use their summons to deal dmg once then dissapear, they should also be able to use dark magic
Scholar skills should only identify mobs weaks points and nothing else
Dragoon should also be able to use shield
NiN should have the ability to throw items from inv to dmg the enemy
Dark Knight should also be able to use White Magic
i can keep going if u want
NiN in ffxi was made a tank, if that can happen i dont see why Dark Knight cant be a tank in FFXIV.. heck it even makes more sense
Lets not start this again - SE never intended NIN to tank in FFXI, that was the lazy player community who made the Job like that - abusing what was meant to originally be simply a 'get-out-of-jail-free-card'. Once Utsusemi went down NINs didn't last long at all if they had hate, showing full well they were not tanks. They were literally paper tigers.
i agree...BUT SE embrace and let the players use NiN as a tank instead of nerfing Utsusemi, same way they pretty much made Samurai a dpsLets not start this again - SE never intended NIN to tank in FFXI, that was the lazy player community who made the Job like that - abusing what was meant to originally be simply a 'get-out-of-jail-free-card'.
