See, you get what I'm trying to say. Unlike some people who shall remain nameless.I agree that right now, guild leves are really boring. I think as much as anything it's because it feels like there's even less purpose behind your actions than normal MMO questing. You're out in a random open field getting sent to deal with random mobs just standing about, nothing about it feels important or special.
I think it would've been better if they weren't in such standard places. For example, you could be sent out of a city to the first camp, which is outside a cave, and you get leves to venture down into the depths and find out what's going on. It would be nice if they have some sense of progression too, as you complete the basic 'surface level' leves more become available that reveal more detail about the region and what's going on.
Right now they are really, really boring.
They are, for the time they take to accoumplish. They offer a short term, quick fire challenge with a simple but effective goal intended.
The levequests arn't meant to be grand, legendary adventures (the likes Bilbo Baggins embarks upon). They are tasks which the cities issuing them feel are needed to do.
For something that takes (max) 30 mins from start to finish, I think they are ok. There are always ways to spice things up a little with them. Quickly leveling up a different job, or try a more challenging difficulty. Failing that, why not grab just one other person to accoumplish them with. Not too consuming to find one other person, and if you befriend, it will make sorting larger groups out easier later in the game.

Every game have dailies of some kind, i think the one who doesnt get it is you.
Can they be better , yea.
Should they be long and engaging , not really.
You dont have to go into the defensive just because i dont agree with you.
relax.
edit: dailies and repeatable will always get old, because they are a mechanic that is meant to be repeated over and over again as a method of progression.Do i like them ? not really, but i still like to do something productive when i am short on time and feel like playing.

A few mmos do have progression within dailies, though. An example could be something like, you're sent by the guild counter to investigate some garlean activity near x crystal in the black shroud. You arrive and pick up a couple of scouting quests off the aetherite (I think the current system of having to go back to the counter for EVERY LEVE is so stupid, it should be used as your base of operations, where the guy goes "You're x level, go visit y and see if you can help out!) to see whats happening, once you've done that a few times you unlock a couple of new ones to confront the garleans themselves.
This kind of thing could build up to where you unlock a boss fight of sorts, where youre sent out to try and deal with an officer or something. Once you've done it you can keep coming back, and perhaps varying leves would be given out on different days from then on.
^ I think something like that would be more interesting, and give a sense of accomplishment even for people with very little time to play. A cutscene or two and some lore revealed at the end of the chains wouldn't go amiss too.

This may sound like trolling, but I'm really new to this game having not gotten past level 10 on any character... what are the alternatives to GuildLeves? I'm honestly pretty bored with the game because all I do when I log in is do one leve, and then log off >_> The main story quest seemed pretty interesting, but it fell off at like level 6 or so.
How exactly is a central hub where you can check what leves you can get stupid lol. Would you much rather run from LL to Bloodshore just to find out there are no leves worthwhile to do lol. The main point of the counter is to have a central hub where you can check before you head out. There really isn't a problem with leves, it's basically tailored for casual players that don't have a lot of time on their hands. There really is no reason to alter any leves set in place however it is possible to suggest and recommend new leve concepts.
For example for future leves they could add Progression leves where you do a leve ina set order and upon clearing them you can reach the final line of the leve for a unique reward
Contractor Leves, basically a leve where you gain fame from the contractor in question and upon completing their repeatables and unique leves you unlock new leves to perform under their request.
For progression leves there would be maybe a 3-6hr wait time to progress to the next stage of the leve.
For contractor leves you would be able to do the fame builders (repeatables) as much as you like but there would be a limit to the fame cap that can be arrived with certain leves and new leves wouldn't open up til 6-12 hours.
Basically I think the best manner to improve on leves would be to reccomend different leve concepts, it may also be possible to turn certain leves into dungeon concepts. Basicaly you could obtain a leve for Toto:
"Energy Overflow"
-Monster have shown signs of increased ferocity from the devices set inside the dungeon, Here area few bombs but beware there may be mobs guarding the devices so prepare yourself accordingly-
Basically when you get those leves you talk to the dungeon dude and choose "Leve request" as an option in which everyone will be leve linked and the 60 min timer inside the dungeon will start. However doing said leves would also cause the timer on the dungeon to reset so you would have to wait to do another dungeon leve if you grabbed two in the same area and all party members would have to have it available in order to do it.
But ya as it stands now leves serve the purpose they are suppose to, quick event for casual players to be able to progress as a decent pace. It's hard to tweak it properly without altering that aspect so it's much more logical to keep the leves as they are now and just think of the future of leve concepts.
Well, I think the point is that if the leves were all worthwhile it wouldn't really require a central hub, you'd simply go to the camp in the region you want corresponding with your level and take the leves straight from there <_<
And when would you run anyway? The casual group it's intended to be targetted at would be a lot less likely to run out of anima, in theory.
I love the timers you recommended. SE would be proud. How exactly is a central hub where you can check what leves you can get stupid lol. But as mentioned above by the R10 guy, leves are boring. They do need to be replaced. If better leves (the likes of which we are suggesting) one day come into effect, then nobody will do the old ones anyway. So they need replacing.
I just ranked Lancer to R10 using nothing but guildleves.
I cannot stress enough just how boring it was.
