I think if guildleves were like the dungeons...

If guildleves were like the dungeons, then nobody would have quit.

I've always hated guildleves, they don't make sense in an MMORPG which is supposed to be, at least in part, about some sense of adventure.

The dungeons provide a way for SE to showcase their creativity and instill the gameworld with lore and background-story while still being a fun way to get SP and meet people.

So in retrospect, it seems obvious that SE should have made, and should now seek to make, the leves which one acquires from the guildleve counter more in the same vein as the dungeons, perhaps making them non-instanced to provide a difference between the two independent systems.

Because, let's face it, the way guildleves are now (neither fun, attractive, or good for SP), nobody will do them.

The only reason you would do them is for the Guild marks or rewards, and it won't be a very enjoyable passtime, I can guarantee that.

I guess I mention this only because as it stands now, the current rendition of guildleves seem like a vesitgal appendage to the game, or in other words, a relic from the dinosaur era. It seems out-of-place in the newfound scheme of things, and you find yourself asking why such a system is still in the game at all.

Guildleves shouldn't be completely phased-out, no, if for no other reason than because they are an integral aspect of the opening cutscene (and also a recurring FFXIV motif). So i'm not advocating they be thrown out. I just think that, instead of being thrown out entirely, the system needs a serious overhaul, with every single guildleve being reimagined with a new emphasis on engaging the players (like the dungeons), rather than just providing a bunch of mobs for players to kill.

The dungeons are repeatable, but have enough variety within them to sustain repetition. Guildleves don't. But they should.
