in the numbered series yes, but there is many other games out of the numbered series, yes the scythe idea has only been used in game twice, but in concept it has been used a number of times.

@Delily. Wielding a Scythe would be nice and more impacting, it certainly will make the job stand out just like Hand to Hand weapons do for Monk or Duel wielding blades for jobs like Ninja.
Soul eater is the iconic ability, but maybe creating a weapon to make it stand out physically will work
if they decide to ditch the scythe idea, it still needs to stand out. Since DRK is normally considered a DPS, the weapon would be a nice vocal point for that, if they decide to go for the tank route, it will be armour focus, otherwise i worry the job will just blend in to others.
Leon (FF2) the first DK and Cecil (ff4) the most iconic DK as you can see both use swords. Leon's best weapon in the FF2 remake was a spear Longinus.

You're going to be disappointed with Dark Knight more then likely if you require them to use Scythes and be DPS. They are one of the only jobs in FF to have a signature weapon, Deathbringer, and it is a sword.

As far as "DRK is normally considered a DPS..." that is a unfounded statement. They are traditionally a heavy armor high hp melee class with HP/MP damage and leaching.

A side note Cecil being a dark knight is why Dragon Knights Kain got renamed to Dragoons back in FF4 because of the old char caps would had both abbreviated as DRK. LoLDragoons : /

IBS>So in 3.0 the Darknight will be a lancer class job that uses magics and drains to tank with a spear!

Lancer 30 Arcanist 15 to unlock Dark Knight. That would be hilarious.

SMN just need more abilites that interact with the pet. I think DoTs+pet work well because FFXIV is way more fast paced then FFXI so the summoner himself needs to be able to do something other then just issuing some orders to the pet.
I agree that egis should have the size they have on the job trial quests, I'm not sure why they aren't like that.

What SMNs really need is a revamp on pet skills though. Ifrit is still somwhat useless and Contagion needs to become a SMN skill or otherwise Levi and Ramuh-egi will also have no chance to stay competitive.

Egis are they size they are so they do interfere with the field of view for other players. Many players set party battle effects to show some, so they can still see Sacred Soil, but not other things. For instance, I'd have trouble in Turn 8 finding the sweet spot for Brainjack if the Black Mage's Blizzard 3 hits around the same time, were it not for that setting. If egis were bigger, referring still to the Turn 8 encounter., it might make the Homing Missle line harder to find, for example.

I would also note that while Contagion should probably be a Summoner skill. (My vote would be to have it replace Tri-Disaster). Garuda is still likely to be favored simply because she avoids Boss Aoes by being at range.

The problem with this argument is people want to use their Chocobo while in dungeons and Raids which will get in the way the same a towering Primal will becaue players will accidentally target them and not be able to see boss AoE.

SE should make the Egis 50% larger and add more detail to them so they look like smaller versions of the Primals. Also they should give the Egis Hard Mode Primal abilities in 3.0.

No, they should stay small with a limited number of abilities with between 20-30% of dps

By that logic we should also only party up with Lalafels because Roes are too big and clogger up space. Everyone just uses Garuda that stays out of range anyway, so screen would be fine. I somehow agree that too big would interfere with view, but the size they have on the trials really aren't big enough to do that. We are talking Gaolers/Ramuh's adds size here. Maybe a option to "simplify" egis could be added, in the same way you can turn off effects/shadows.

Wanting Something, and it happening are completely different. If players get to use Chocobos in dungeons it will only be solo or 2 player dungeons. They will never get to use them in 8 man raids.
