That's like arguing other players characters get in the way so they should be tiny without any detail. A more detailed Hyur Highlander scale Pet wouldn't get in the way.

People DO complain about other characters in the way. This is just more complained about at places like S ranks because everyone is there or events. Fortunately, not everyone plays Summoner.
Give the people who want bigger better badder Primal summoners a UI that only they can see where their primals look as BADASS and giant as they want. Then they can go away and focus on the FF14 DRK isn't the FF11 DRK for 100 pages. At least now with the DRK being a tank the SAM will most likely be a dps right?

Hopefully. I've been having GKT withdrawals.Give the people who want bigger better badder Primal summoners a UI that only they can see where their primals look as BADASS and giant as they want. Then they can go away and focus on the FF14 DRK isn't the FF11 DRK for 100 pages. At least now with the DRK being a tank the SAM will most likely be a dps right?

Personally, I'm a fan of the FF3-9 style of Summoner. The one that called upon beings to rain death and destruction on enemies, or even heal and protect allies. With 10 and beyond, Summoner just lost it's feel to me and while I do enjoy Smn in 14, it's only because it's so closely feels like I'm playing my old Affliction Warlock from WoW. Personally I kinda had wished and hoped that with Summoner we could have gone back to the old style where you summoned a being to do an effect and then it goes back into the Aether or whatever it would come from. Like, for example, how Milla Maxwell in Tales of Xilla uses her spirits in combat.

I Played SMN in Xi; their play style (ignoring subclasses) was a blast and should have been implemented *more*
That being said, I also played wow... I played a warlock and guess what that is... a DOT-summon class...
The Franchise (meaning everything under the label Final Fantasy) means the summons should be better then this weak/minimalist pet crap, I enjoy the SMN style.
I complain about the pets not being good representations for their Primals. They look atrocious, for starters. while Ifrit has the best look of the three graphically, they all fall short of what they should be! Hells, even the Elements look better (and I have on a few occasions wished we were an Elementalist Summoner instead, because honestly I think it would have looked better!) Summoners are a "pet" class by anyone in the franchise's expectations...and they're not in function.![]()
"Welcome to the ranks of the blue mages. However, at this moment you are but an empty vessel--a base creature, weaker than the most ordinary mortal. A blue mage must wrest her strength and vitality from her enemies. Show me your hunger for unrivaled power! This is the only guidance I shall give you."
~ Final Fantasy XI Treasures of Aht Urhgan
They really dropped the ball here with SMN the class needs to be redone to be a more pet focused with the way the pets were before and less dots or dots via pets.

Y'all make it sound like im hard to please!
however, although id LIKE it to be that way, it has now officially been confirmed that DRK is a Magic based TANK with a Great Sword, this is an interesting direction and im rather excited for it!
the armour looks sweet and the sword is pretty badass.
roll on DRK TANK! this will be fun!
Would blame it on ps3 limitations, but XI was on ps2.........
....um....Obama? Rap music? The Brits? Alcohol?

My only complaint is that the designers forget that summoners need more accuracy than blms on account of the pet. Soldiery body had no accuracy and neither does the poetic body.
