    The thing is that you can remove the Echo buff. I'm not an advocate of the Echo buff either, but at least it's 'optional'. If you're getting this lower difficulty, I want to at least see a difference in gear, which has been suggested earlier.

    You can remove it by simply right clicking on the buff and it goes poof.
