Isnt Necromancer and undead more of Gridania's stick? I mean, there are cases of undead everywhere, but undead and dark magic in generally has a centrally heavy theme in the shroud and gridania in general.

If I am following what the Dev's have announced, they said they will be adding two new jobs and classes. One healer and one tank. possibly more than that though. The 3.0 build will have a heavy theme on Ishgard in general so its safe to say the a class like Dark knight will be given. Templar seems to be out of the question though because we have Paladin's and thats what Templar's are, just with another name. I think the Ishgard pope and his clergy could have some interesting lore as cleric's and healers so realistically, we could see Dark Knight and Cleric=>Bishop.

Dark knight might also get it's own base class if it doesn't share the same weapon set as Paladin.

Yes I also think that Bishop would fit very well with the HOLY SEE of Ishgard. I wonder, is the church still run by Lahabrea and Elidibus? If so, that could be awkward.

At best, Lahabrea and Elidibus are advisors to the see at this moment. The pope still has complete control, but is probably being misguided by Ascian machinations.

Complete control? Pfffff We don't know that. Patch 2.4 might shead some light on the matter. We saw an Ascian overlord in the trailer but his maks was not visible so I couldn't tell if it was Lahabrea or not.

If I remember correctly, it was a Ascian in a white robe and another in a red mask. They may not be one and the same people though but eh... *shrugs*

Well, I retract my statement somewhat. Not complete control if he is being manipulated by Ascian's. If I recall correctly, Ascian's cant be seen by normal people so it would explain how they would be in Coerthas and manipulating the pope without the templars putting them to the sword. I could be wrong about that though and they could be there on the good grace of the pope.

I can easily see Templar being implemented as a secondary job from Lancer. The lancer skillset is already fairly similar to Marauder (though less similar to Gladiator) and includes a proper pull ability with Piercing Talon, a defensive (parry) cooldown with Keen FLurry, and a mitigation/utility attack in Feint. Equipping the soul crystal or activating a tanking stance could provide increased enmity to skills such as True Thrust, Vorpal Thrust, and Full Thrust for basic single target enmity generation and skills such as Ring of Thorns and/or Doom Spike for AoE enmity. Positional requirements could be lifted while operating as a tank to allow the use of Heavy Thrust and Impulse Drive, but possibly with the additional effects being modified. Etc., etc., until a proper tank class is built.
