I think the city would be incomplete without the DoH and DoL classes, so I'll give them some mention.

I think Mason would be an interesting DoH to add, along with more things conceivably made out of stone (mostly weapons, with some heavy armor, mats, and housing goods). This only fits in with Ishgard better than Gridania, but I think it could work. Unfortunately I don't know a whole lot else they could add for crafting, since we do have most the bases covered.

I saw this in the general discussion thread about Heavensward, but I think shepherd would be an interesting DoL that could fit with Ishgard (mainly thinking of the karukals). It could gather animal goods from conceivably tamed (or wild) animals, fleece, skins, meat, horns, etc. Most of those are currently available from mob drops, but the class shouldn't be totally redundant and should include things unique to gathering, finding a use for those things though.....

I would imagine most of the new classes added in the expansion will be placed in Ishgard (with the exception of musketeer), but they could have jobs elsewhere. For example, a katana wielding class could start in Ishgard, but then go to Limsa (or Mor Dhona for that matter) to get the samurai job. I do think that Dark Knight would start in Ishgard though. I've gotten a dark'n'unfriendly vibe from Ishgardians so far, so I think they'd go well together.

I find it hard to imagine a katana wielding class in Ishgard. If anything I expect that such a class would be introduced in a possible future expansion that takes us east. If they would appear in 2.4, I'd expect them to be in Mor Dhona. The Doman refugees have settled there for the time being, and Revenant's Toll is ever expanding. It wouldn't be weird to see guilds pop up there either.

As for DoH / DoL though.... like mentioned above most, if not all, of the bases are covered. The only thing I can think off is glass crafts. But try and find a use for that besides housing and jewellery. Well, that and electrician magitek.

To be honest I agree, a katana class starting in Ishgard doesn't make a whole lot of sense thematically, but I would expect pretty much any new classes/jobs in the expansion to be related to Ishgard somehow. The katana wielding class was mostly just the first example I thought of that wouldn't obviously be in Ishgard, but could start there and branch elsewhere for Jobs.

I'd also love to see Mor Dhona as a starting town (someday) or at least have guilds, and with Doma representing eastern cultures, Mor Dhona would make sense for a katana wielding job.

Well with Ninja being Dex based they have balanced out the classes to have 2 jobs for each stat. Which makes it very likely that this is their intention moving forward so I expect one job per stat to be added with the expansion. For me Dark Knight would be the melee dps. With chemist, musketeer/gun mage, mystic knight/samurai/Templar, red mage/time mage/geomancer. Filling the other stats.

They were also very coy about the fact they mentioned jobs and not classes, this either means branching jobs from previous classes (I hope this isn't the case, I'd prefer new mechanics from scratch and the need to level than just be handed a new job) or they are going to rework the job system to do away with classes (if implemented correctly would be a welcome change.)

Following with the lore that Ishgard serves as the chocobo breeding hub of eorzea, I could picture a quest line that leads up to unlocking the beastmaster job involving one of these chocobo breeders (I'm looking at you, FFXI beastmaster quest). It could even be that the shepherd's guild which someone pointed out was an unused guild from 1.0 that was located in coerthas, could perhaps actually be a DoW guild which serves as the class leading up to beastmaster.

Back in the days before the launch of 2.0 when yoshi-p would often give interviews on his vision for the game, he talked about wanting pet classes but he was torn over whether it would be a class where the master summons a permanent pet, or if it would be something like XI's beastmaster where you temporarily gain control of one the monsters roaming in the world. With summoner we already have the permanent pet option, so maybe yoshi-p will add the "tamer" style of pet class with 3.0.

They sed they we are getting a healer and a tank. My question is what do they mean are we getting 2 new base classes that is a healer and another is a tank or are we just getting 2 new jobs a healer and a tank using an existing class that we already have. I know we are getting a gun using class but is it confirmed if its a healer yet. The base class could start of as a dps but then become a healer with chemist job crystal. As for the tank I wouldn't be suprised seeing a two handed sword user using evasive moves to tank. A Acolyte-Bishop(Healer) or

Liljramos seriously so far they've only confirmed tank and healer because that was In relation to the question asked at the time.

This question was regarding a tank and healer being released when ninja was announced, to which they said they will come in the expansion. They did not though state that only those roles be coming.

I am betting that dark knight will share the gladiator class with paladin and that it will also be a tank. But probably will drop the shield for a two handed greatsword and have high parry and use hp draining skills for damage mitigation and enmity gain.

With the armory system, class and weapon are linked, so introducing two-handed greatswords has to mean introducing a new class that isn't a gladiator. As for HP draining, I think dark knight is historically the opposite of that, sacrificing its own HP to increase its damage output. It would have to be based on a new dps class, but... they can do what they want I guess. I wouldn't be strongly opposed to a new dark knight concept that is a tank. We might get some clarity on drk as soon as Saturday.
