I was paying SE for a service, its quality has now been compromised => deal's off. There is nothing personal about this, if I'm not getting my money's worth in content I will stop giving it to them.

In before the outrage a few months from now when they add the option for Triple Triad card/booster pack purchases from the cash shop.

I'm not gonna argue about why it's not the same thing. If you can't see how you get a physical item with those that you would otherwise never have then I can't help you. Your still ignoring the fact that the company is not doing this for the survival of the game but simply for greed to get more money. Screwing your fans to fill your pockets is not a company I like to support. It's a personal opinion. Clearly you don't feel the same. SE is a business they are there to make money. They aren't making FFXIV as some form of charity. I can not fault them for wanting to make more money it is their job to do so. This is a good business strategy selling extra items in online games and there is proof that it works well. An example Blizzard released their first mount on their shop they made 80 million in the first day. SE doesn't have as many players as Blizzard but the huge success of their shop shows that it works. Console dlc which SE also does has proven successful as well.

SE does research and analytics on this type of change to their game in order to see if they will make or lose money. If amount of money lost due to people upset about the change < money gained by happy customers buying items in the new shop. Then SE will go ahead and side with making more money despite losing a few upset customers.

If I see minions or mounts I want to buy I would gladly buy them because I like to support games and companies that develop content I like.

But how dare you insinuate this game isn't worth spending money on, you are obliged to throw your money at everything they produce regardless if you disagree with the direction the game is going because my own reasons and things and my love for Final Fantasy, period.

If we could get a commitment that a certain % of cash shop sales went to development costs for the main game updates I'd be thrilled.

I'm not bitter about a cash shop. They give huge discounts for longer subscriptions already, let you do every job on one char, etc, and have delivered very substantial updates every patch. Don't forget live letters, free event streams, etc outside of subscription too. As long as there isn't a shift toward p2w and the updates increase in quality or at minimum stay the same I'm fine with SE making a bit of extra money.

You scoff at cash items? No problem. Don't buy them. Your other mounts will run just as fast.

Oh my gosh, a company is trying to profit, how terrible of them. They are incredibly greedy people to sell plushies that give you in-game minions of all the horrible things. How exactly is selling some minions 'screwing over' the fans? They're simply doing something that you don't like, but really doesn't affect a lot of people. It's vanity stuff that you don't need, stop acting like it's the end of the world and SE is evil.

Also, you clearly have no idea how business works and the kind of high budgets that games require as well as staff pay for their hard work. FFXIV alone costed over 600 million to make.

Oh and your last sentence about treating you like a child only shows how sensitive of a person you truly are. You should really consider not taking things so personally and maybe you'll learn to took at this in a more logical standpoint rather than an emotional one. :l

Yes but they make money from our subscriptions. It is a success, they are not failing and need to fall back on alternate means to make money. Doing this is simply greed. I would support a game more that gives without asking in return them a company who takes things away from us and then asks for money to get them back

And to those saying "greed" SE just gave us NA fans (from a Japanese company) a free stream to the fan fest. The first of three festivals for fans in three different countries. They gave a way 4 Nvidia Titan Video cards to people just for showing up in order to build a customer base. The funds for that had to come from something. And if the cash shop in any way supports more and higher quality festivals then I'm all for it.

wich what kinda comes down to personal opinions...but in the end of the day none of it matters

what SE will do, after prolly the 1st month is this

subs lost=x amount of money lost
cash shop revenue= x amount

if sub lost>cash shop revenue then cash shop is gone (hopefully)

if sub lost<cash shop revenue then cash shop stays
