I wonder if the people that post "a sub doesn't entitle you to all content" would be just as well paying for an expansion, while instances, quests, items, vanity items, pets and all sorts of other things went to the cash shop?

If a sub AND expansion purchase don't entitle you to all content... then what DO they get you?

Well, apparently to these people they get you as much or little as SE decides to give you.... which means you are just buying a pig in a poke with pretty anime packaging.

I suggest we wait and see what happens rather than predicting.

If they keep the shop to fluff items i.e. mounts, pets, clothes, etc. then I don't see it being much of an issue. I see this as paying a bit extra for the leather trim.

If they start adding 'power' or 'story' to the shop then they are gonna have to go FTP or BTP. Given the current sub numbers I suspect that would be a bad move for them.

It does raise an interesting question though... Where do you draw the line? If they add an 'xpack' to the shop im sure we would all buy it. How much content do they have to include to make it an 'xpack' and not just gated content?

I hope they add some unique items to the cash shop and then I hope to see the community ridicule any person seen with these unique items so that buying anything from it becomes a negative stigma in the community.

Easiest way to make this stuff go away after it is implemented is not use it or encourage its use.

Yes, harassing your fellow players is a great way to...oh wait, that's a great way to get a ban. Or you can just not use the service and hope that your fellow players follow suit.

If they don't, you can take solace in how "enlightened" you are and how morally inferior those of us using the cash shop are. Especially the moral superiority of suggesting harassing your fellow player.

For me, I'd rather not have that sentiment tied to it, as much as the bully/harassment crap pisses me off and I'd rather that particular sort of player not inflict their nonsense on their fellow players. I'm skeptical that it will push any large number of players away and I'm hopeful it won't drive down subs.

It's a really divisive subject in any MMO (I don't think a single MMO exists when a cash shop that hasn't had this argument among it's players). I don't want to see players rage quit over it. Here's hoping they make their opinion known and then keep playing and not using the cash shop. Square can then make a choice about keeping it or not based on revenue.

As for me? I'm getting the minions and Slepnir.
