Have you seen how we always get two versions of primal furniture? Starting with the expansion, with the new primals, I can see the "shiny" ones becoming cash-only.The issue I'm having is that now everything not "progression" is on the table for cash shop.
New dye colors? New cute minions? New cool mounts? More vanity gear (ie lighting, dragon quest, etc)? Are they all on the table for cash shop now and we're ok with it? So if 1 out of the next 20 mounts is cash shop is that ok? 1 out of the next 10? Next 5? Next 2? You want a metallic copper dye? Well that'll be $2? I guess furniture items are not progression either right? $5 for the moogle desk is fine?
I'm not ok with this :c
Kinda wondering too about the 'side stuff' coming up soon, the card game and choco racing. No doubt there will be stats and mechanics in those, and since its not main progression, extras would easily be swayed into those.
Really am disappointed in the fact that a cash shop of any kind is being implemented into this game. Given the game's rocky history, you'd think that they'd tread more lightly in regards to asking for more money for vanity-related items, but I was always of the opinion that these items should be obtainable through the game because of the way the game is designed: crafters and their recipes. Oh, and nevermind the fact that we pay a subscription, anymore. Apparently, this means nothing.
*sigh*
I think I may have noticed a little something.
So you remember all the complaints about how hard vanity is to obtain right, certain pieces like Waterproof cloth and the like? The devs saying they want vanity to be difficult to obtain? Welp, it's so they can catch you into buying them from the cash shop later on.
People are already getting caught:
How long until we can buy plots of land with our wages then?

If they plan on selling vanity items for real money, I demand they stop using my subscription fees to develop vanity content. You don't get to charge people for something and then charge them again to access it.
After 10 years of playing SE MMOs, I will absolutely drop my subscription and never touch an SE title again.
Idk about you guys but I'm super excited to go gentle into that good night.
What ARE they using our money for? The MMO was budgeted on 400'000 subs and is well over that now, and yet Ishgard is 90% re-used assets and a mess of models that already existed before too - some of them not even making sense lore wise. One primal trial every 3 months? Coil aesthetic constantly recycled? No idea where the money goes aside from terrible iOS games with just as dubious economic practices.
cant wait to get my Odin Mount![]()

Geez, everyone is overreacting. I'm sure you won't find any better MMO. In past 15 years, about 15-16 mmos I've tested and play. This by far is better one not best.
I'm on the fence about the vanity items. Excluding the sleipnir mount arent they only selling past event items?
Regardless, its bad enough having to pay for 2 additional retainers, now crafters/gatheres must compete with not only rng but a cash shop that sell the item for less the $5. Vs the a million gil on MB
