Hey, check out all these people who aren't cancelling their subs because they don't care if other people have a fancy new pony.

Hey, check out all these people who will cancel their subs the first time they add level 1 cash shop re-textures of high end raid gear with a different color palate.

It's whatever as long as most of the money goes back into development of the game.
And a lot of it goes to their pockets, not to keep the game alive, this cash shop is pure profit, excessive if you have any idea how well vanity items sell in f2p games, in the last f2p game I played vanity items gave more profit than gear enhancement items, people would spend hundreds for a 1% chance to get "special" things, you don't need that in a p2p game as the box sales AND sub usually pays off for everything and there's still a large profit.
If you want to support micro-transactions in a game you already paid for (box cost) and you keep paying for (sub cost) go ahead, but don't lie to yourself that this is for game development, that will go straight to their pockets.
OR " For all we/you" know, this is a drop you can get in game with an option to buy it.With regards to the Odin mount, look at it this way:
They developed the Odin mount at the same time they developed Urth's Fount Trial.
At some point during the development process the question must have been raised - Do we make this a drop, similar to the Extreme Primal mounts? Or do we put it into a cash shop.
This question WILL have come up during the development process. They have clearly chosen the route that will yield them money as opposed to the more fairer for all option.
It just feels bad when you're paying a monthly subscription to have the exact chance to get in game items as everyone else, then only shop exclusive items so whoever pays more has more access to game items, that's so F2P move. I always loved P2P games because everyone has the same posibilities in obtaining the items, now we don't. Even if they're just vanity, some people wanna obtain everything available, that's what game content is for.
i dont care if it is a minion in the form of a piece of crap or the most awesome mount, this is a spit in the face at the player base, and the only thing i see here is that you are opening the mouth waiting for the loogie
You can't just lump everyone in and say everyone is unhappy because of what they think might happen. What's made me unhappy is what appears to have been decided and appears to be happening. Reason I say appears to is that SE seems to state something controversial and then last minute say something to ease people up. Now, again, it's the Sleipnir mount. I am already paying for this game so I expect to have the chance to unlock it through playing. While this hasn't been stated, I am hoping they will turn around and have it also available through playing the game.
The issue I'm having is that now everything not "progression" is on the table for cash shop.
New dye colors? New cute minions? New cool mounts? More vanity gear (ie lighting, dragon quest, etc)? Are they all on the table for cash shop now and we're ok with it? So if 1 out of the next 20 mounts is cash shop is that ok? 1 out of the next 10? Next 5? Next 2? You want a metallic copper dye? Well that'll be $2? I guess furniture items are not progression either right? $5 for the moogle desk is fine?
I'm not ok with this :c
