It's really simple. If people leave because they don't the cash shop, that means SE is generating less revenue from the game overall, which means they have to add more things into the cash shop. It's a slippery slope. Even if you like the Y'shtola minions, will you like it when they add their 'Superbowl 2015 celebration!' minion? When they release tacky items that break the lore and try to grab your attention at every turn? His analogy works perfectly, but I can see how someone who justifies anti-consumer practices would have a hard time understanding basic logic.

They'll make far more money off this than they will lose from people "voting with their wallet". Also how much was your monthly sub in GW2? Those games have to make money somewhere, it's not a charity.

I am not really a fan of this. I pay a monthly subscription because I support the game, and in return expect this sort of stuff to be included. Oh well, every game company seems to head in this direction now: day 1 dlc, on game content locked behind pay dlc, capcom style micro-transactions, etc... Hopefully enough people decide not to buy this and they rethink this cash-shop stuff.

This has actually been in console games for quite some time now. Take Xbox for example, you have to pay the monthly xbox live fee to play online, you have to buy your games, now then the games almost always have extra dlc outfits, weapons, ect. If you look at SE games there was a ton of optional stuff in FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns you could buy on the store.

Your analogy is wrong. You buy a magazine subscription, you get the magazine. If they were to tear out pages and charge them, that'd be like SE tearing out Primal instances and charging you to be able to fight them.
