No i'm not and i didn't buy a thing of this things till know (was lucky and someone gifted me the dalamud) and i am a bit frustrated already about this. So the shop is one more step in this direction.
Protip: What you pay for doesn't 100% go towards development solely of one project, especially a self funded project like XIV/ARR. Biggest example? XI paid for most of SE's projects between 2006-2010 because it made that much money that they can allocate it to other projects as well. You may want to stop playing MMORPGs or any Online game, they all do it.I'm very disappointed and not conflicted at all about this. I pay the sub so the devs can develop content I can play, and now they want me to pay before and after. It doesn't really matter that they're selling vanity, it's not as if it's less important than gear. Am I so mad that I'll cancel my sub? No, but this is the first strike. Won't allow a second.
Why? They're not your friends, if they know something will sell, they will do it. SE is a Business.

Personally speaking, I have no problem with a 'cash shop' like this. Just optional, cosmetic gear for those who want to fork out for it. Looks like the prices will be pretty reasonable too. The true problem would come if they ever added instant-leveling stuff.
Anyway, on first impressions it certainly seems like a better system then SWTOR's Cartel Market. At least here it looks like you will get exactly what you pay for, rather then spending money on gambling packs hoping for an item you want...
Yeah, once I grew up and realized that businesses want to make money and not be your friends like you thought, it was quite enlightening.
Once the subs starts declining heavily they will introduce items to help players progress, it's only naturalPersonally speaking, I have no problem with a 'cash shop' like this. To be honest, considering that after months the new swimsuits are still at absurd prices in-game, to pay a couple bucks IRL sounds almost more reasonable. So, this is about the only thing that I've heard at Fan Fest that I'm actually not liking.
I know that they said "fashion only" but I'm still not okay with that unless all of the items are also obtainable in-game without spending money.
You already get revenue from subscriptions, server transfers, fantasia, and the other merchandise you've been attaching in-game rewards like minions to.
Please handle this with careful consideration.
The probably earned some quick cash from this, but lost a whole lot of respect. I mean one of the big pluses I say to other people about this game is no cash shop. And they'll be thinking cash shop for everything they make now. This is pretty bs, there better be a way to work for these things in game but I'm thinking they wont.
I too am not really happy about this.
I'd feel a lot better if these items were available in the game without the option of paying for it. Vanity or not, we're already paying monthly for this. The least they could have done is added it to a veteran reward or something.
Lame move Square.
