You have got to be joking, OP. Is this, like, a joke/troll thread or something? You cannot possibly think you were being helpful in that chat excerpt.

Without even asking if they minded some friendly advice, you jump right into making demands to a complete stranger, about what spells you want them to cast. Then when they refuse to bow to your demands, you tell them to "choose another job"?? You are practically a half step away from "omg uninstall plz gtfo."

Your "you just said you don't want to do your job" comment is borderline delusional. It is like you don't even understand what is being said to you.

Not to mention, it matters very little if your advice is correct or not, if you don't bother to explain why. Without the why, it is not advice -- it is just an order. And you are not in a position to give orders, whether it is what class to play or what skills to use.

And finally, when they flat-out said they do not wish to be told what to do, you just keep at it and harass them incessantly. Please, if you can't be more courteous/respectful towards others, at the very least learn when to quit.

No I'm not trolling or joking.. buuut i just realized i completely skipped the "why" part between the important lines in my head.
    In my head it was

(If you want to make an effort to increase your damage) "You should reread your skills"
    "Pardon me?"
(If you) "Start with fire III" (you gain Astral Fire III immediatley / etc. )
"No, I think I don't want to" (increase my damage) "but thanks for the advice"
(If you know you are doing a lot less damage than you could at the moment and do not want to improve) "Then you should play another job"
Hence, I replied with "You just said you dont want to do your job".

Things in ( ) being what I did not say because I was trying to be quick about it.

Um, I actually did not consider he did not know that the dps would be a lot higher that way.
So I assumed his reply meant that he does not want to increase his damage (considerably), which is the job of any DPS job.
That's why I suggested trying a different job.

I failed at giving advice. Sorry.

Anyway, after this it is pretty much repeating comments now, I have commented on a lot so have others. Well, it's a lot of words I realize not everyone (*almost noone) wants to read the whole thread, thats why i edited the first post.

No, I did not assume that. That is the point everyone does not see, because my wording was bad. What I assumed after he said he does not want to try my suggestion, was that he knew it would be better to do so, but willingly chose not to, because he 'doesn't like to'. That's because I read the chat different in my mind, like I wrote in this same post above.

I think the problem is in the word outcome. If the outcome is exactly the same in every perspective, okay, then it does not matter what path was taken. However, with exactly the same, I mean, the exact same amount of time was used, the exact same amount of deaths of players happened, i.e. the excat same amount of gil was spent on repair cost.

You can argue that you don't care if you take longer, as long as you don't wipe, for any reason, maybe one being repair cost. But that's your opinions.
If there is a way to be quicker, that means there is a way to play better. If there is a way to be a lot quicker, the chance is at least one player is still practicing his job.
Now if that player told me he knew there is a much better way, and could do that, but refuses to beacause he doesn't want to, then I'd be somewhat.. shocked. That is not a way to play with others, no matter what job you are playing. (This is a general example)

I would have tried to give advice, and whatever happened that is within game rules, I would not, and have never kicked anyone, for not playing like I think it is right.
The reasons I use the vote-kick feature is the reasons that are listed in the game for it. Maybe the tone of the discussion that might have happened might have sounded rude, well whatever, people can try to figure it out or ignore if they don't want to talk.

You can play as bad as you want in whatever DF dungeons, I'll try to give advice, but if it is so bad that I don't want to play with that, I leave myself.

The point when a player starts using words that are offensive by definition, is when I initiate vote-kick for harassment, and follow up with a report.

Other than that, the replies to your other points are already present somewhere in the thread.
