I don't believe so. They always hinted at DRK being one of the future jobs/classes but I think the GLD association was solely speculation by players -- unless I missed something in a live letter at some point.

They at one point in an interview when talking about multiple jobs, mentioned
they were considering a system, where say if drk came off gld. then you had to
choose pld or drk, and could not take back your choice.

Right, and it was purely an example that shouldn't be read too much into. A source quote would be nice, so I can read it in Yoshi's words. But either way, it contradicts other live letters where they mentioned DRK. For example:

Q: Do you plan on implementing great swords?
A: Well, the development team was saying before that they'd have to do this at some point, and I'm thinking it will be when they add the appropriate class or job. It could be samurai, or perhaps dark knight, but only the battle team knows for sure. Still, it's definitely something we'd like to do.

Although, reading that again... He does mention Job, not just class, which goes to show that he has thought about allowing classes to pick up different weapons for their jobs. So it is possible that DRK may well branch off GLD. Too many contradicting ideas thrown around the place. In the end we will just have to wait and see. At least we know unofficially that SAM and DRK are coming in the expansion.

recently yoshida did say that they aren't planning to realease another jobs for the actual class, that they are thinking to change some stuff in the class/jobs system, but we don't have really clear information about this. maybe at the fanfest of london that seems more... based on the jobs announcement.

Yeah, I remember them mentioning reworking the job system but it sounded to me like it was just ideas they were considering. If something does come of it then all this speculation is wasted time. :P
