This talk confuses me.
I don't know why people are assuming these jobs would have anything to do with one another or would be branched off of an existing base class. If anything, I would think that both SAM and DRK would be the jobs of entirely new classes; for example, Blade Master (Katana/Great Katana) -> Samurai and Knight (Greatsword) -> Dark Knight. Their fighting styles are not compatible with one another; great katanas (which are curved, single-edged swords) are simply not wielded in the same way as greatswords (which are bigger, straight, and double-edged). DRK could also end up using scythes, which no current DoW class is anything close to.

But a DoL already uses scythes?. The again ROG, LTW and CUL all used Knives, CRP, BSM, GSM and ARM use hammers and MAR and BTN use axes. This talk confuses me.

Than again the various types would have to have a naming convention to seperate them form their counteprarts. Maybe "Reaper Scythe" or "War Scythe"?
Funny bit of history... the original appearance of the Dark Knight in Final Fantasy III had them using the "Dark Blades" Ashura, Kotetsu, Kiku-Ichimonji and Masamune and Cecil's 3 Dark Blades in Final Fantasy IV were straight single blade swords similar in design to Edge's Katanas. This talk confuses me.

I was thinking, maybe they could set up DRK to be heavily weighted for skill speed. Give it a stance that increases speed a lot, but at the same time changes skill costs from TP to maybe twice that number in HP.
Dark Knight in a sense is about hatred, they could actually make it a part of Gladiator without removing the enmity from abilities and make that very enmity the catalyst for their dmg.
Basically a Dark knight would be a job that excells better in longer battles rather than shorter ones but the idea would be that they build up enmity and then release it to dish out heavy dmg. Maybe have a mechanic that balances the amount of enmity they can shed at a given time so the more hatred they release the higher their base enmity is on target.
So say everyone starts at 0 and let's just go with 100% as the enmity marking. Using x ability might cause an effect on DRK that gives them 15% base enmity that can't be shed on top of any other enmity they gain meaning when they hit 100% enmity they would only be able to tap into 85% of that enmity dmg and let's say the roof of it is 50% so by the time they use the ability in excess of 5-6 times they would have to hold back and allow that base enmity status effect to wear off. Of course they could add an ability that does that automatically removes that base enmity effect allowing them to tap into their heavy dmg again. But I do imagine DRK would work more as a enmity based dmg dealer since enmity=hates and DRK are all about hatred lol.

Watching the trailer again, I think the Batman "hint" was about how Derplander equip his DRG AF2 in the trailer. It is in a way how also Batman would equip his armor.
