(Seriously after this amount of time people still cant make the connection between there mortal mist use and player weapons skills) all on a mp pool in the 600 range.

I'm not saying any thing one way or the other. And i realize toto-rak might not exactly be a litmus test for mage efficiency. But if a meat headed Marauder can manage this, don't know what it says about the people who have extensive time logged as dom with the appropriate stat builds.
The ability to do it and the desire to do it are different. You know what I'm saying?
I'm not really having a hard time healing in Darkhold, I just don't like that I'm no longer doing the things I used to do.
I had a lot of fun at Great Buffalo the day before patch. I was healing, nuking, DOT, I was constantly pacing myself and calculating what to cast when, I was even forced to "not overheal" and once (after Sonorous Blast drama) had to go passive and regen a tiny bit (note: tiny bit). That was fun to me. It was fun to be involved in a lot of things and to have so many things to do.

We weren't really taking a lot of damage in Toto-Rak until the boss fight and that was more the litmus test, I think. I don't think we really went in taking it seriously - all of us on jobs we're pretty unfamiliar with just doing what we think we should do on those jobs -haha and most of us spec'd to do the opposite (You MRD stats healing, me with 130 MND psuedo-not-really-tanking). 1 of the 2 ARC may have been spec'd to actually DD.

Anyway, it's just not fun to sit there and micromanage Cure to HP.
I enjoyed it in XI for a long time, but over the years I realized just how little I was "doing."

I dunno. I just don't like it. I also don't have much room on my bar for those things like Slow and Paralyze (not to mention they have ridiculous recast timers) now that I have to have multiple Cures for various situations so I don't waste MP over-healing a person and a couple extras for AOE "oh shit" situations. Before 1.18 I was all about DOT & debuff and now I'm too scared I won't have enough MP the next time All-Seeing Eye pins us down in a corner while we're juggling 3 moles. That's just how I play "strictly healer" though. Maybe I'm outdated.

Another reason this situation is super ridiculous is the piss-poor targeting system. I don't feel bad if people are dying in my party because of how needlessly retarded it is to target them. 3 targeting modes? Are they serious? To force this much emphasis even upon willing healers while the targeting system is in shambles is beyond me..!

Exactly. That's why we should be left with options on how to play based on the purchase we made of this game in the beginning. If restrictions are going to be placed they need to be placed with options at the players' disposal. Multiple jobs per mage class at the very least, and the restoration of aoe to all spells. I think Thaumaturges would make a willing choice to lose aoe on Sacrifice if they could opt to the White Mage job.. but without a job system in place the changes are cruel.

I can't read this thread anymore. Mage Strike 2011.
Completely agree. I prefer to be busy in tough fights.. using every ability at my disposal to its potential.. not waiting for a Curaga 2.

No, you're not outdated. FFXI was just copying Everquest.. but everquest is not like Jesus Christ.. it doesn't need to be copied because it's the salvation for all mankind.. it was just a game that tried to entertain people as best it could at the time. Better gameplay should have surfaced by now.. and if the leaders of this game aren't brave enough to stick with it.. do us all a service and at least pay us some respect for investing in our characters by following the suggestions on this board - suggestions that won't break your plans, only bring some comfort to those of us upset over your actions.

Also Shai, is your name in homage to the band Shai Hulud?
