This would have had a stupid effect on the games housing. They either should be segregated permanently or mixed freely. They choose mixed freely. You have to remember they don't play the short game they play the long game. In a years time it would likely seem very silly that only two zones were limited this way. The only problem here is that people actually think there should be housing space for everyone. Which will never, ever, ever happen. In the end there will always be a finite amount of space. Simply making those zones available for personal housing would have done nothing more than appease people for a month or two and in the long run would have been a very poor choice.
People need to try and get it through their heads. Housing is intended to be prestigious. You don't have a right to have a house. Based on how many people play it's going to realistically impossible to have enough plots for everyone since the server costs would be astronomical. Eventually getting a house will require you to have the money, watch for plots to be forfeited due to 30days of inactivity from various players, and snatch that house up before someone else does. Any suggestions to help personal houses completely overlooks the fact everyone isn't supposed to have one.
The way I see it they made 2 mistakes.
1) They made statements about personal housing being separate. Clearly due to technical requirements that wasn't very realistic. They should have vocalized this instead of surprising us with patch notes.
2) They should have held off until more zones could be added at once. 2 wasn't enough considering many FCs were waiting for housing as well. If they could only add 2 they probably should have held off on personal housing to clear out the FCs that were waiting. They did however immediately tell us they are expanding that at 2.4 so the situation should improve soon. 2.4 with this upgrade to capacity is when personal housing should have launched.
