I don't know about you, but last I checked Cleveland gladly begged Lebron James to go back to them and all the groveling Miami did was completely fruitless. The pay out the big salaries because they are begging for the players. Some team owners forget that and start acting like morons like Donald Sterling.

So there is no misunderstanding of the term.

It is an honor to attend and to be able to help the person doing the inviting. But invite is just a dressed up term for beg in a formal setting. Think about invite spam/junk mail from credit card companies, insurance, etc. begging you sign up with them? You get a special invitation junk mail from the local Lexus dealer to see their 2015 cars. They are all begging. Nobody short of the force of law can really force anyone to do anything. So if you are asking for others to help you, you are doing begging.

Does it mean the requester, the person doing the asking is helpless or powerless, certainly not. But if you doing the requesting, you certainly can't be rude about. I've never seen an invitation sent out with the intention of being rude. And putting a request of players on PF should be the same way. At the very minimum, it is rude to put a PF saying "no newbies wanted." So instead of doing that say, "holding tryouts for farm statics for XYZ."
