Coil isn't that difficult, it's simply that players don't want to make an effort. TBH, coil does not require hours a week to progress. Start a PF and advertise for players that can fit into your schedule or are happy to just run when everyone is online together. Get them in an LS so easy to communicate. You can also send ingame mail to those not online in the LS.

Don't just wait for someone to hand things over.
    Pretty much this ^

Also for those who claim their schedules are bad, don't want to commit to a group, and <random excuse>. You must realize that with MMO(s) there is a price you pay outside of the subscription fee and that is TIME. Your IRL JOB requires time as well, but there is one blaring difference. Typically your job will not suddenly change their business practice to suit your wants. (Not saying NEEDS because people usually want not need.) Sure you pay for the MMO but that doesn't not mean they have to cater towards this.

You must also consider that the game needs time sinks. If everything could be viewed/killed/seen quickly how will SE make money? Think of the repercussions of this scenario if people didn't have something to challenge and keep them subscribed. At this point you maybe thinking and getting ready to argue, "Well if they can't beat it they will unsubscribe anyways." This is not entirely true, I've seen so many people who complain complain complain for months that they cannot beat new coil. Guess what? I still see them complain because they are subscribed and determined to clear the content.

SE has done a decent job in adding various content to cater to people. Don't water down content that can be revisited in the future.

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.

Actually they do, hence 1.0 was a flop.

That's exactly why they did by adding Echo to Coil/Ex's.

I'd much rather them add a Story Only Mode and not add "Echo".

I'm astonished to see people having so much trouble with ONE fight, if you really wanna beat t5, just read about it , train and beat it.

Theres NOTHING hard now with the echo buff, you need only to focus on the dive bomb and the twister phase, thats all there is to it. Thats like... 4 minutes in the whole fight and the dps check is now unimportant.

Heres how you do it: on divebomb, stay in the pit, go out when you see green mark and go back in right away. Three Times
wack on monsters for 45 seconds, repeat divebomb dodge.
Kill all snakes, you now have around 20 seconds to heal and go stand on nodes.
now Twister phase, focus Twintania and spread out, when you see her casting twister stop all your actions and move. Kill Dreadknights as they come (should be 4 tops) while keeping an eye on Twintania's Twister.
Now just burn her, tank should be ok on hatch.

Can't do these 6 steps? Try again

Wasn't this thread all about simply having a casual, simplified Story mode for Coil, aside the normal and Savage modes?

As hard as it seems for many people to comprehend, among the billions of people that live on this planet, there are those who do not have the dedication / don't have the skills, reflexes, speed (whatever someone wants to call it) needed to finish the fight even at the current state.

The Binding Coil of Bahamut's Turn 5 is over one year old and there isn't a single reason it should not be made accessible to those who weren't able to beat it before.

It should also be noted that even after such a long time, if one wants the original difficulty, it's quite easy to gear up in i70 and click the Echo buff off your bar, so it's not like the hardcore aspect of the fight was taken away, which in turn makes any rebuttal to make this fight more accessible to the general population just about one word: selfishness.

Damn this thread is serious. Just putting this out there to anyone on excalibur who may still be having problems with content:

If you make a party and send me a /tell, I will come help blow stuff up for you. I can't help out with SCOB, cause my static and lockouts, but I will blow up T5 or Titan EX for sure, (or heal or tank it, but I'd prefer to blm cause I need dat nexus light)

As someone who raids weekly, I see absolutely no problem with having a story mode. If you think the story doesn't matter, then you're playing the wrong series. There is definitely an important story in BC. Watching on youtube is not the same, and you know that.

As an aside, let me explain something that I haven't seen mentioned: lag.

And no, this isn't SE's fault, but this is all Verizon customers. There is a node called alter.net, which is a CDN. For the past month or so, Verizon customers playing FFXIV experience huge (around 30%+) packet loss in the hours of 8:00-10:00 pm, at least. This causes severe lag, rubberbanding, and 90k's. I talked to a customer service rep who confirmed that this was an issue that the technicians are going to have to deal with, because it doesn't just affect FFXIV, but anything that hits that node (like Yahoo).

Why bring this up? This is a perfectly viable reason for players failing, beyond their control. I can't tell you how many times I've failed T7 the past week because the melee adds don't appear on my screen until 5-10 seconds after they actually do, or I outright d/c during the fight. Let me counter any argument you may have before you say it:

    1. "Change ISP's" - My area has Verizon and Comcast available. I'm not going to Comcast. Ever. I actually get fantastic service with Verizon (27ms ping, 85mb/s download whilst paying for 75), it just so happens that anything hitting that node will get fucked up. Everything else is astounding. (Not to mention we signed onto a 2 year contract. The fees for breaking that, with any company, is incredibly high)
    2. "It's SE's fault!" - No, traceroutes and pings prove that the packet loss is occurring at alter.net. If it were SE, it would affect everyone, not just Verizon customers.
    3. "Use a VPN" - That costs money. My monthly internet bill, plus my $10 sub, I'm not adding more to that.

In conclusion, lag is a perfectly viable reason for not being able to clear content that is beyond your control. Adding a story mode would allow people to enjoy the story of a video game without relying on outside sources.

If you're a Verizon customer, I highly recommend reporting this problem as much as humanly possible (1 (800) 837-4966). It can be a pain in the ass to deal with, but you could be helping your fellow player and yourself. Also, you might get compensated for your time lost, if you speak to the billing department (I did).

I just switched to verizon and have run into this. I took option C, and throw an extra 5 bucks a month at the problem to make it go away. It sucks but it is what it is. I will, however, call that 1800 number and add my voice to the complaint list.
