oh! Also, against OP's idea, how could this even tie in with the story? You're a warrior of light and can't even defeat Twintania with a 20% echo buff? Thanks for the offer but I'll find someone else to save the world.

I believe that in i160 gear, people will still fail Twintania unless they make it so that twisters don't instantly kill, and the flame wall doesn't instantly kill. As long as they keep that, people will still be blocked by it. Gear does not cure bad (or lag).I'm not really against the idea of a story coil, so +1 OP, but another thought I had is couldn't you guys wait a couple months until ilvl 150~ gear makes it even easier?
It gets easier with each update just because of the higher level of gear that's available (without even taking Echo buff into account), so I kinda get the feeling that in a few more months it will already FEEL like a story mode. It seems to me that by the time they would even get around to implementing a story coil (months obviously cause everything takes forever), you definitelyyyyy wouldn't need it.
Development time used.
I agree with OP and don't understand the hostility of some posters, this game was never meant to be hard or hardcore, when Tanaka started with XIV, his idea was to make it casual compared to XI, and Yoshi took the same steps and carried them further, so keeping the hard instances with loot and all for all the people that have the time and energy to do them, and adding a story mode will go well with that philosophy.
+1 for the idea here.

and yet an other way to use "casual" as an insult.
Let's be clear, to cut off the undergoing superiority complex. This would not be meant to give rewards of any sort other than the right to experience by ourselves the story of the game. Youtube ? That was the main argument of the bully guys in CM and praetorium, do you really want to start that debate all over again ?
And before saying that the story is "optional", maybe you should once again remember the story of the coil and how much it's related to the Carteneau's battle. Some of us care about lore. I guess you don't. I do.
could we cut the crap about "I can do it so should you if you put the effort" ? Where did anyone talked about giving handouts to people who can't clear regular content ?
see above.
considering your sig, I'll take it as a very bad joke.
not really
example : T5
=> get rid of twister (like, definitively) : success probability improved by like 1000%.
This is obviously a bad example but you see the point. Remove things just to make sure anyone can reasonably have a chance to do it without the dedication needed for regular coil and that's it.

What good are 'friends' if you can't be honest? I'm in a static with a healer buddy and if he does something bad, I tell him, and if I mess up, he tells me. I tell my own husband that he needs to improve if he's not doing what he is suppose to.
I'm not going to lie to someone and tell them they are doing good when they aren't, friend or not. If you can't be honest with your friend(s) then what kind of friendship is that?
Back to OP: Doesn't bother me either way, if no loots and no unlocks, then it shouldn't effect anything/anyone.
Seems lots of people have their heads up their bottoms about this xD
For many people 50% echo with i120 would not help them, so I don't see anything wrong with a story/no loot mode, so they can go through the story.
I don't see why people who have the kill should care, unless they are trying to sell the kills...
I think these people are aware they're not good enough to beat it as is, hence this thread, but they still want to play together. I think kicking people defeats the purpose of playing for some people, I don't think it's about not being honest with each other... I'm still friends with my friends who aren't good at video games =PWhat good are 'friends' if you can't be honest? If it dropped loot, gave achievements, titles or whatever, I'd get your "casual handout" argument. It's not affecting the raiders one bit to offer this.
