Can you please Ease Up on Atma now?

Farming Atma is the most boring and unrewarding "end game" content of FFXIV.
The fact that it doesn't even compare to the first relic quest, or even the 900 myth farm for the Zenith makes it irrelevent as a step in the relic questline.

We are now at a point where a lot of people prefer to skip it completly and grab their Soldiery i110 weapon (without having to hunt at all, thanks to the new ST loots) rather than farming low level fates for days or weeks.

This content need to go away since it's not relevant anymore. And you make it go away by enabling people to blaze through it by increasing dramatically the drop rate.
That's pretty much about it.

If 2.4 doesn't ease this process, I'll just drop the relic completly and never bother with it anymore, even if it's BiS.

It'd be fine if it wasn't so skewed. I farmed atma for my monk, it took around 800 fates to get all 12. For 2.4 I decided to farm for the upcoming ninja, on one atma, I got it on the first fate as i loaded into the zone. On my the current atma I'm farming, I'm at 1200+ fates for that atma alone. If that's not messed up, I don't know what is. And I know a couple of people who have been farming atma since it came out and still doesn't have a set.

Right now I'm at:
12/12 on Monk = Total 800 or so fates.
3/12 on ninja = 1400+ fates.

I'm nearing the 3000 fate achievement and that's good and all but farming obsolete content mindlessly, no effort, just button mashing for hours on end is not "content". I'd be pretty pissed if they added thoughtless RNG to previous relic lines "Defeat Hydra and bring me its head!", only to know that Hydra would only have a head 0.01% of the time (murloc head quest joke if you get it).

Here's a thought for everyone who loves grinding: go back and do it. Nothing's stopping you from doing low level FATEs for hours on end (seals should be as good a reward as anything else, not that you'd need any because you just love the grind so much, right?)...

I don't love grind. I love the achievement behind it (relic).

Fates were always a stupid way for atmas to drop, and the horrible drop rate they attached to them just makes it even worse. SE doesn't like to even entertain the thought that people don't find Fates as fun as they intended them to be, so like to live in peaceful ignorance of our plight.

I worked nearly non-stop farming Fates for three weeks... THREE WEEKS! Only an idiot would say to someone 'work harder', because it doesn't matter how long and hard you work at it since the end result is still down to a RANDOM number. Anyone who still defends the Atma system after all this time needs to pull their head out of their butts until they hear the pop. It was rubbish then, it's rubbish now... it will still be rubbish in 4 years time.

It's not fun, it's not challenging, it's not engaging. It's a merciless train-wreck of a system which should never have been implemented. End of story.

They should scrap the whole failed system since relic+2 .

Atma: RNG
Animus: days of waiting for fate to pop up and grind (killing 1000 mobs)
Novus : relic for the rich ( Or spiritbond grinds /RNG )

I think the general consensus is that since Nexus is currently the best weapon available, it's an unavoidable grind at this point. Sure, you could get a soldiery weapon but how long before your new weapon becomes obsolete? Will there be a new weapon to rival the Nexus in the next patch, making Nexus another meaningless artifact?

Then it becomes a question of where the divide is supposed to be. If Animus/Novus/Nexus are all identical to their same-level counterparts, what's the point in going through all of the hardships involved for them? They take much more time and patience to work on, ultimately for a lacklustre reward. We like to think they're working up to something, but so far there's been no indication of it.

I've already discarded the notion of getting a second Atma. Heck, I'm at the stage where I may even throw away my Animus for the next-best weapon simply because of the hardships involved. My White Mage uses the soldiery weapon and is already equal to anyone sporting the animus variety. In a fraction of the time.

So you hit the nail on the head, pretty much. Why bother if it's going to be like this? The end doesn't justify the means at the moment, which is why the climb needs to be be eased up on.

As it stands I see no reason farm atma at all. I have two iLvl 110 weapons right now. The only reason I've got the relics I do is in case they mak atma easier.

As far as atma drops, I have 6 unique (but three lions and two crabs). I started atma farming at 93 fates completed. I got my first atma on the very first fate I did after completing my relic. I farmed 100 fates in upper la noscea and never saw the atma there though. In outer las noscea I got a lion on one fate, then a lion on the very next one. I, sitting at I think 600+ fates but it just doesn't make sense.

I'll equip a relic if I need to do a fate and yes I'll occasionally farm up ten fates just to see if I get lucky. But really very little point to it right now.

Ya know, this thread made me wonder: Can someone with a Novus equipped get Atma? If not, it SHOULD work like that imo. Would make grinding alt zodiacs easier.
