yet it is lies. he said himself he didn't expect players to misinterpret his words, but he was polite enough to take blame even though it was the players who misunderstood his words.First off, slander implies that it wasn't true. His explanation was half-arsed. He said it, he never corrected it, and he should have. SE is like any other company and Yoshi is like any other person, neither like to admit when they messed up. Hopefully they at least learned that communication is good and putting your fingers in your ears and screaming "LALALALA" is bad.
Second, this isn't USGov folks. There is no 1st amendment right in the forums. These are Square's forums and they can edit/censor what they dang-well please.
so yes it is slander.
Just stop. No, it isn't. There was nothing to misinterpret. There were, two completely clear, statements made.
1) It would be separate
2) It would be cheaper.
Those two things changed between when he said them and when the patch came out. As a developer, and a player, I understand that. If I didn't communicate that with my users in advance, I'd be read the riot act by my boss. I'm not taking issue with things changing in implementation. I'm taking issue with him not saying anything in advance about that change and then being surprised and blaming the players (also, not slander - Seriously? - "what did you do with your gil?"). We're largely adults here. We're also paying customers. Treat us like both of those things.
Haha! My signature (which I believe is more or less the same one Syrehn had) is slander?
No. My signature simply points out exactly what happened; Yoshida said one thing, and did another, and the developers took nine months to remove the Free Company requirement from purchasing land. Yoshi apologized? That's great, doesn't change what happened though, I honestly take more issue with the nine months of silence than I do with any potential misunderstandings, we even had a thread asking for information in vain, that they could have responded to to clear up the misunderstanding before it blew out of proportion. Until they "fix" the issues with personal housing I'll leave it there as a constant reminder to all.
If they want to sweep it under the rug (and probably ban me as well, seeing as I've had temp bans for pretty ridiculous things) then fine, it's their forum. Doesn't mean it reflects well on them though; they're allowed to do whatever they want in these forums, if they want to do something which will reflect badly on them, all the more power to them.

"I own a unicorn". I've said it. It must be true. I have the national animal of Scotland roaming in my back yard eating rainbows. Because something is said, doesn't mean it's true.
He said it, because doing a mea culpa is hard for anyone. He said it because some misguided players were figuratively calling for his head on a pike. He did what lots of people do, he tried to dodge responsibility.
how? he took blame and even apologized."I own a unicorn". I've said it. It must be true. I have the national animal of Scotland roaming in my back yard eating rainbows. Because something is said, doesn't mean it's true.

Yup, your sig is the same as mine was with the exception that mine said "The cake is a lie! Flagship signature for the blatant lie." at the top.Haha! My signature (which I believe is more or less the same one Syrehn had) is slander?

Maybe that's why it got removed, but if that's the case I would think they would have quoted just that one line in my warning email and not the entire signature and they could have just deleted the upper line and not the entire thing. :/
No, he apologized that we misinterpreted him. That's what is known in common parlance as a "non-apology". "I'm sorry you're upset", is not being sorry that they failed to communicate, it's him passing the blame back to the offended party.
This would have been an apology, and Yoshi, feel free to copy and paste this if you happen to have wandered from the JP forums.
"To my fellow players,
I am deeply sorry that we failed to inform you of changes in the housing implementation from their initial announcement to their implementation. When we had stated that they would be separate and cheaper it was because we were going to implement them as an entirely new system within the game. Unfortunately, the resource usage of this system threatened stability of core features of the game and had to be scrapped. When the decision was made to made to instead have player housing share resource with Free Company housing, we should have made players aware of that change so their expectations would be in line with the final product.
For this, I deeply apologize"
There.
they didn't fail to communicate though. that's the issue but he was kind enough to take blame when players took things the wrong way.
I think they shouldn't have bothered releasing housing this patch. We already have FC private chambers and they clearly arent and still aren't prepared prepared when it comes to housing.
I'm fine with how they implemented it (could be better) but they said they lack space and are trying to program their servers to "double" the lot amount.
