It is easy to be nice to help the 1st-timers and it is fun too. Let them watch cutscenes and include them in the boss fights. This is not rocket science, it doesn't cost anything to do. Quite worrying about myth per minute. Worry more about if everyone is having fun and having a good time.

That's not a compromise. That's selfish. Earn the bonus by waiting and helping the noobs have fun.

As for the argument that "noobs are lucky to be treated like trash by vets, because otherwise their queues would be 4 hours long" ... that's up to SE. If it becomes a problem, FFXIV can increase the noob bonus to get vets to queue. If the bonus isn't large enough for you to treat noobs well, then don't play MS roulette.
Says the one who isn't in PF helping newbies. Seriously get off your high horse. YOU are the problem. YOU instigate Vets into treating newbies like trash. But you're content to sit back and troll the vets into being hostile because of your actions here and your inaction ingame.

As I said, most of us are content to let newbies watch the cutscenes. But people like you who already got theirs harass and ostracize people still running the queues. People like you are the problem.

Don't pretend this is a perfect world, no matter how much you try you can't enforce your views on others, people won't have a change of heart just because you asked them to.

People will speed run whether you like it or not, so if you have any solution that doesn't involve removing the roulette or forcing people to watch cutscenes (as they would break the system) feel free to point it out.

Because the content is boring and easy. Speedrunning either spices content up or makes us get over with it faster. (or it makes you wipe if the group can't handle it)

Had a tank today in Dzemael that pulled ALL the trash up to the first boss AT ONCE. It was awesome, because I needed everything I got as a healer to keep up.
He kept that pace and it just rocked.
Usually I sleep through the 30-45 min dungeon. Today it was 16 minutes of adrenaline.

I like this idea. It's like the commendation system. If the noobs don't say people were helpful, then no one gets a bonus. Since it's at the end of the dungeon, no one can retaliate. And even if no one gets the bonus, everyone still got the base reward, so they didn't really lose anything.

Instead of people speedrunning and locking out the noob or pressuring them, some people would start acting "super friendly" to earn that bonus. It would be a bit fake, but maybe it would encourage the right behavior.

And it would be amazing to see people asking the noob if they were having fun or understood what was going on instead of rushing.

I really hate these threads. They always ooze entitlement syndrome from both sides.

    Its either
    1. Let me watch the cutscene and everyone wait!
    2. You're wasting everyone's time
    3. My time is more precious than yours!
    4. My sub money is more important than yours
    5. Wah you left(kicked) me!

I take it you aren't familiar with DD first room xp farms? That's how the first pull is always done (in those parties at least) thanks to those stupidly powerful Crystal Veil buffs.

On topic: I'm of the mind to wait with the newbies in a Castrum or Praetorium run - especially Prae, it's so easy to get lost in there the first time through - and people usually wait with or just plow through trash, either works. The main thing: let your party know what your intentions are so that they can go with you or voice their own opinion. When nobody speaks it usually ends up being all the veterans plowing through everything while the newbie gets stuck in cutscene after cutscene, but when someone does say something - whether it be a newbie or even a veteran speaking on behalf of the newbie like I sometimes do - people are usually more accommodating and are more likely to wait with. Then there's occasionally that person who's all "mememegottagofast," but there's really nothing we can do about those kinds of people.

As for those people who say "you'll feel the same after a hundred runs" - I don't feel that way, even though I'm over twice the recommended iLvl for the place (if there is one), I still enjoy the instance, especially Praetorium (love the music). Though I guess I'm probably an exception.

Duty Finder is a mixed bag of random players. You may get highly skilled veterans, or you may get beginners who have not even seen the story scenes yet. When you enter DF, you are recognizing this fact and implicitly agreeing to cooperate with whomever you're grouped with. Remember, you were all new once. You all had your chance to take it slow, learn the mechanics, and see the story cutscenes. Why shouldn't others have the same opportunities you had?

The only reason you vets are even in Duty Finder is because you aren't able/willing to form an experienced group manually. You think you are such hot stuff, but essentially you are on MMO welfare. You're asking the game to find random players to play with you. Ever heard the phrase "beggars can't be choosers"? Welcome to beggar country, pro star. Learn some humility and at least pretend to be a decent human being for the duration of a dungeon.

Which is the only reason to even touch them after you beat them the first time. People don't go in there to be hot stuff, get welfare, or help new players. It's for the rewards. I'm guessing you're pretty new because before the last 3 story dungeons were added to roulettes, the que times ranged from 20 minutes to 2.5 hours for cape westwind alone. Would you rather vets be "hot stuff" and get "welfare", or newbies have 2.5 hour que times?

You can watch your cs's at your own pace or get left behind. It's that simple

Well I'm pretty sure it's not for you to rush new players through the most story-rich dungeons in the entire game and completely gut their experience with the ending. That's like volunteering at an art museum as a guide, rushing people through giving them maybe a few seconds at each painting, and expecting to be lauded for your oh-so-wonderful "help".
