Would I be correct in suggesting that it's easier for the task force to identify Gil buyers the more Gil they're buying? Because if it's easier to identify someone who just purchased 20,000,000 Gil and than it is to identify someone who just purchased 200,000 Gil, I'd say the high prices still act as a fairly good deterrent. At the very least, it's an easier way for them to remove RMT Gil from circulation; If someone buys 2,000,000 Gil and buys lots of items off the Market Board, that Gil has mixed with plenty of other players and they can't really remove it easily (the last time they did, there was a massive uproar). If someone buys 2,000,000 Gil and buys a plot of land, that Gil is gone and when they're banned that plot is free again.

[sidestory]There's this special individual in my server, known by many master crafters as he is a frequent buyer of extremely expensive furniture, he is also known for spending 80m gil on 10 Thavnairian Onions when they first landed on the market, he also bought a large house for his FC and paid 87.4m for a personal mansion as soon as the servers went up, rich person some may think? He has zero presence in the market and has no idea about how to make money (people have talked to him before). Not going to accuse him of gil buying, but if anything here is clear is that there's something fishy going on. One would assume SE has people hired checking the markets and checking housing sales in case people use RMT to buy houses, but I'm not so sure anymore. [/sidestory]

I've also heard old tales of people who got away with gil buying when housing was first released.

Going to deter RMT by encouraging RMT, and then also banning players? Some players will buy gil to buy gil but a few people I talked to were going to do it for the first time because of housing, never did they care before (not sure if they did buy some or not, I think all the small houses being bought in seconds did the deterring for them lol - yay for legacy servers). Or they could set the entry price to something most fresh people finishing the story line could afford reasonably (and make it friggin instanced lol).

Although everything comes back to availability, gil is an issue for some people but it isnt the issue at the heart of all things.

This is turning into the MMORPG equivalent of the US War on Drugs, lol.

So let me get this straight, he actually believes that RMT is going to risk spending a good amount of valuable gil to buy a house so they can grow crops? Seriously!?!?!?

Which do you think is going to help RMT more? (A) Make housing available to all players for a fair (yet still expensive price) where MAYBE some RMT would buy it to sell high price crops and risk losing that investment? or (B) make housing incredibly rare and expensive driving players to buy gil from RMT to not only get the money, but get it quickly before the new wards sell out?

I say B ... and its pretty damn obvious. Either SE is in bed with RMT companies, or Yoshi and his team has completely lost touch with his players. Hell, he's seemingly lost touch with reality. Does he not realize that RMT characters HAVE THE MOST MONEY!!!! WTF!? Good job telling everyone to suck it up and work hard for it. What a condescending jerk. Its @#*$ing Tanaka all over again. You know I THOUGH asking for his resignation was too much, that maybe he'd correct this soon, now im starting to think the game would be better off.

The following is a list of starting prices for each World. Plot prices will devaluate once every 6 hours (Earth time), with the original price falling to half after a period of 30 days.
I like how people just ignore that devaluate part when they read the patch notes.
Just be patient and earn the gil in the meantime.
Supply-wise, to be resolved in 2.4. Again, think of it as "we now know how much housing will be" and can set the target to earn by the release of more supply.

Money is the scapegoat issue. The real problem is availability. Yes, people will save up for 2.4. But how many wards are they adding? With the additions in 2.38, they sold within 10 minutes of the server being back up on Balmung. Mostly because even without personal housing, there were several FCs saving up from the last time when they missed out. This is just going to continue without an end to the cycle because there is always going to be more people wanting houses than there are houses available. Gating them behind money is just SE's way of trying to keep from having to make more. If there's enough people that just don't have enough money they can say "make more money". Which is why I ask, what excuse will they use when everyone HAS enough money but there aren't enough houses?
